I don't know Mr Bunkis but clearly he doesn't understand the game,of hockey. The only reason that Mathews is scoring like he did when hyman was here. Is the simple fact he has room way more room. Why . Because Bertuzzi is in front of the net causing havoc, which now keeps the defence man battling to get position on him . Instead of coming out to plug up the shooting lanes and forcing Mathews keep to the out side. That's all they were missing to give the 1rst line balance and they can come inside.Bertuzzi is the best player that they could have got.The two games should easily show you how much more time Mathews has to use his skill ,creating ways to score.
Matthews aside, the other thing i've loved about this season so far is how great Willy has looked. Feels like he can take over a game on his own now.

Sam McKee needs to chill. Yes, Nylander will get his big bucks, but in Toronto. Nobody who’s in the know says otherwise. He seems more attached to the Leaf’s than Matthews. Lol. JT’s contract is coming to an end. Don’t worry the Maple Leafs money people will work it out where it’s the Big Core 3 & signing Bertuzzi long term w’d be excellent. Read the room Sam. Lol.
McCabe hasn't looked great but he's also 1 of 2 leafs D that aren't afraid to hit. Rielly, Brodie, Liljegren and Klingberg are not very physical. Leafs need someone to lay hits to break up cycles .
Dunno why Keefe doesn't put knies up to tavares line and jarnkrok and domi with minten. Not sure what would be wrong with that
It's funny, because if you had asked me what I wanted to see from the Leafs these first two games I would have said solid defensive play, good goaltending, and sparks of creative attacking genius, coupled with 4 or 5 goal totals.. but the Leafs have let in 9 goals in 2 games, which doesn't bode well, but because of Matthews' 6G, Nylander, the PP, and the top 2 lines cooking, I'm not worried at all about the GA%. Samsonov will find himself, Woll WILL have a breakout year, and the team is absolutely capable of standing their ground against top NHL teams (although this hasn't been established yet: not this year, obviously). Leafs for Cup (cliche fanboy Leaf sentence there!)
Also, people were scoffing at the idea of Nylander getting $10M/AAV, and you can't base a contract off of a two-game performance, but after last years' playoffs and Nylander's start, is $10M that unreasonable?

In both games , goals against half of them were pure fluke
let KNIES develop he's fine where he is , absolutely no pressure to produce , perfect scenario for his development
I'd keep playing Knies and Minton. they clearly better than Robertson McCann and Holmberg. Let them make mistakes it so early in the season.

Its 2 games in and to early to know what this group will be. I'd still move Nylander if they can't sign him before the trade deadline for a top 4D, you can't risk him walking for nothing. McCabe is trending to the new whipping boy on D, I don't like what I've seen from him so far as a Leaf.

He is healthy which is a,big plus so he can shoot better plus he driving the net more and scoring from different areas like 2 goals already from the goal line almost like leon does if he does that and can stay healthy he can score between 60 and 70 this year
