  1. hang on hang on canucks got outshoot bad in gm 2 because of powerplays ? well edm play caused those pp but edm needs tighten up defencevly and anhiem or any goalie

  2. The best part of these two games is they aren't just relying on the usual EP40, Hughes & Miller crew. They are getting scoring from the bottom 6. Really curious to see how they look against the Flyers, in what should be another win for them.

  3. As a homegrown Islanders fan now living in BC, I'd 100% jump on the bandwagon if the Canucks make a run. My Oilers fan wife would hate it.

  4. As a nucks fan I want to believe. But I think so far it's more a case of Oilers being really, really bad, than Vancouver being good.

  5. Also worth noting they dont have Soucy, Bluger and Mikeheyeve. They have star power, depth, goaltending and a competent blue line. This team is scary. Biggest difference is how good they look in their own end, taking away passes and winning puck battles. Only 2 games but it looks night and day.

  6. Canucks and their fans deserve to have a great season, and it'd be cool if they make a cup run!

  7. Rick Tocchet has given the Canucks structure and given the players more fight.
The Canucks won't roll over anymore.

  8. in the first two games what was the 5 on 5 goal differential? something like 8 to 1? Edmonton needs to be better 5 on 5 if they are actually a cup fav, cant rely on the power play all the time, especially in the play offs. And only two games in and you could say that was a big important win for the Canucks. They wanted to get off to a great start after last year and everyone knew Oilers would be fired up after the first loss and this game being their home opener. Canucks need to back it up now on this difficult road trip.

  9. And the refs in that game were absolutely foul. They did everything they could to give McDavid his chance…

  10. I'm very impressed by them as an Oilers fan but also I don't know how sustainable that level of play is for 82 games + playoffs.
The devotion to shot blocking is admirable, but wears on teams.

  11. Hopefully we get teams like the Canucks, Senators, Sabres, and Blue Jackets make the playoffs this year just to shake things up

  12. Forget the wins, they look to be playing the right way, making the right choices. We saw plenty wins with unsustainable strategies for years. This is the first time they actually look like a team.

  13. The thing is, the Canucks last year would have crumbled under 3rd period pressure. That hasn't been the case for this team. And we don't even have Blueger or Soucy yet. Two guys we brought in for stability. Mikheyev is still recovering. If this team can stay bought in to Tocchet's system, gonna be a problem in the Pacific once those 3 are in the lineup. Especially Soucy. Our defence drops off hard after Hronek, Cole, and Hughes.

  14. Blugr soucy mikheyev podkolzin hasnt been in the line up and we already getting bottom 6 scoring 🤗

  15. If canucks make the playoffs, petey resigns. Which I'm feeling semi-confident about. I think it will heavily depend on november/december, but I have a feeling we have a good shot of making it!

  16. I've been rooting for Brock since he did his prom date thing, and seeing him score 4 in his first game was really a relief. Hopefully he keeps going and has a strong season. Having 3 guys who can all snipe on the PP or tap pucks in as necessary is really going to be helpful. And while the PK % over 2 games isn't terrific, given that they were playing the best PP in the league last year, we've seen encouraging signs from that end of things and the defence overall, taking nothing away from the goaltending.

  17. Mikheyev, Soucy, and Blueger coming back should be nice too. Not enough D depth though. With just Soucy out they had to ice an AHL pairing.

  18. Idk what the hell everyone’s talking about here? Look at the shots from last night. They getting completely out played and outshot. That’s totally unsustainable long term, look at team corsi stats.

  19. Let’s be honest here. Canucks were totally outplayed in the last game. That is not a sustainable way to get wins. Outshot 46-16 and grossly out chanced. DeSmith stood on his head and oilers tending was once again abysmal. If I was a nucks fan I wouldn’t be rejoicing too much in that win. The first one was indeed a drubbing of the oilers. The second was stolen from a team that severely outplayed them.

  20. lmao, don't know why everyone's haling this team as cup contending team. Is it because their players said "Cup or Bust" ? There's literally nothing that shows they are cup contenders. Good playoff team, sure, cup contender? Please. They literally have the best player in the game, and arguably the best winger in the game. That gives them the illusion of being some high elite caliber team. But they have so many holes in other areas in their team and lack of depth, I really don't see how they are even comparable to a legit cup contending team. Their depth is shallow and they have don't have elite goaltending and mediocre defense.
