He had some points about too many chances against the Canucks were definitely scrambly last night. But large part due to McWhiner and Crysaitl diving and whining to refs all night and they got 7 power plays and for the majority of the second period, they had one PP after another other. And in the 3rd, they get a 5 on 3 for almost a minute. Really hard to generate anything if you are killing penalties pretty much all game.
He also ignore the fact that the team overall’s commitment to defense and winning puck battles, and not allowing the Oilers and easy lane to the net.

Mike doesn’t seem to understand how scoring effects and powerplay inequalities affect shots and scoring chances.
It reminds me of the past couple of years where the Canucks would be down a couple of goals going into the third and they would try to make a push. Their underlying stats would look better but they were still losing those games.
It’s not corsi that determines who wins.

He sounds like Drance’s #1 fan lmao

Mike in Surrey isn’t « new ».
He clearly has the same voice as Mike in Langley from the 1040 post-game show days.

Mike’s not fully wrong they we weren’t good enough. But being able to win on bad nights against the Stanley cup favorites during their home opener after you beat the brakes off them the game before in addition too being short handed a whole period is very comendable. Good teams win games they shouldn’t.

Mcdavid should probably just get some rest and stop calling into radio shows.

He has a point, but I attribute a lot of that scrambling to Juulsen who would just summon chaos every time he was on the ice. His pairing was the only one that would get hemmed in for minutes at a time.

Anyone old enough to remember the most legendary caller in all of Vancouver sports history? He used to call Dan Russell on Sportstalk radio since the days of CJOR? I used to listen to him when I was 10 or 11 years old over 30 years ago. He was…..’The Pauser’

Someone asked for Mike In/From Surrey to be posted, so here it is. The very next caller did a Dave from Ladysmith [parody](https://www.reddit.com/r/canucks/comments/178hdah/youve_heard_of_dave_from_ladysmith_now_we_have/) to troll Mike.
If you are unfamiliar with Dave, here was his [first call in 2021](https://www.reddit.com/r/canucks/comments/r22ito/and_his_name_was_dave_from_ladysmith/). He calls again in 2022 [and Sat recognizes him](https://www.reddit.com/r/canucks/comments/tqsdfl/dave_from_ladysmith_the_guy_who_thought_the/).
