LFR will be great tonight. Where was the defense on the Perry goal? There was no Leafs near him and he was barely skating.
OH no…Jesse no…everyone wants MacDermid off the Avs lol (by everyone I mean 90% of Avs fans, analysts, and journalists)
Such an old outdated comment that Tom Dunden is cheap!! You are applying Karmonos and Ron Francis philosophy to the newer ownership. The AHL affiliate is a crappy situation, what do you suggest? The reason why Chicago decided to go independent is because they did not want to play the Hurricanes prospects or got mad that we called up some from AHL. Nice try to speak with a Southern accent- but it was a miss.
Lilejgren Robertson to Calgary for zadorov 50 percent retained save Brodie for another even bigger trade like pesce or someone else
too much money. too little benefit
Reg noble? Lol. Any hiphop fans laugh at that
Most Canes fans I have heard from unanimously hate the move to not have an AHL team. There’s real concern it alienates prospects from wanting to come to the NHL or affects development, etc.
In order for the leafs take the next step towards the cup they desperately need to fix the defence
PLD said on the empty Netters podcast that he wanted long term in Winnipeg and they didn’t want to give it to him and that’s why he wanted out 1:13:59
I'm an advanced stats guy, but I think sometimes we can forget that the game is played by emotional human beings lol, when you have a guy on the team who you love, who pumps you up and who will run through a brick wall for you, you're gonna play harder. He might be one of the worst players in the NHL, but he's been a regular on some good teams in the NHL for a reason.
what the hell going on with adams hair
Hearing them talk about Reeves makes me remember watching a game in person with Wade Belak on the leafs fight in the game scored in the game Gordie Howe hat trick, finishes it off with an assist, set the whole tone for the game got his name chanted, all from one guy who scores maybe five or six goals a year Fantastical, I think is the right word to explain it
I can’t seem to find a problem with the way flights are dealt with, officiated and just plain done in the NHL. Nothing wrong with it fights staying in. “Love, a good tussle on Saturday night”
“Me being stupid led to this wonderful opportunity” ought to be the subtitle to Steve’s biography
You wanna sit ONCE at the glass. That's it.
Also, Leafs dialogue is always ridiculous early in the season. this week its Reaves, next week it'll be something else. By December they'll be comfortably top 10 and pushing up and none of it will matter.
tbh people say Ottawa or Buffalo are the teams to watch, I say the canucks will be the team to watch if they keep this up.
On the Carolina thing: It seems there's a big divide between the teams that are owned by NHL teams and those who aren't (Providence, Chicago, Colorado, Cleveland, Rockford, Grand Rapids, Springfield, Milwaukee, Lehigh Valley, Syracuse and Hershey) that basically boils down to this: NHL teams, for the most part, don't give a rat's ass about winning in the AHL. They want to see their prospects develop, more than anything else. Your AHL team is a Calder Cup contender with a young goalie on a heater that's carrying the team (Hello, Calgary)? If Mr. NHL Goalie gets hurt for a long time, sucks for the AHL team, he's gone for however long it takes. AHL team is suffering due to a dearth of talent? If the NHL team is doing well, who cares? That's how the NHL, for the most part, approaches the AHL. The AHL, of course, ESPECIALLY for those privately owned teams, DESPERATELY needs to win, so they can put butts in the seats. Look at the Stockton Heat for their whole time in Stockton: in 395 games, they went 206-170-24-12. And if you take away their ONE full season where their winning percentage went over .600 (cause 19-20 was… Y'know)? They were 161-154-19-10. They were AWFUL. And the attendance reflected that. They were bottom 10 in attendance EVERY year they were in Stockton. And that's for a team that was (and still is) owned by the same guy who owns the Flames. So you KNOW Murray Edwards doesn't care about the attendance numbers, or if his AHL team is doing well, as long as they're developing his players and not losing him windfalls of cash. Now you look at the Wolves and their owner, Don Levin. Because they're competitive, they average just over 7,700 fans a gane (excluding the 20-21 season, when they didn't play), compared to Stockton, who, under the same metrics, averaged LESS THAN HALF THAT, at just over 3000. Now, you say, exclude their last year, where they only had 1713. It's not much better: 3221 a game. Winning at the AHL level is intrinsically linked with good attendance, which, duh, means the owner makes more money. Chicago has ALWAYS prioritizing winning over development, which is why, in only 22 years of being in the AHL, they've had 6 different affiliates. Then you look at, say, Grand Rapids, who came in the same season. Same situation, right? Wrong. Similar, but different: Owned by a different person, affiliated with an NHL team, tries to ice a competitive team, but here's the kicker: They play nice with their NHL team. And, as such, they've been affiliated with ONE team in that same 22 year period.
TLDR: Carolina wants development, regardless of winning, and Chicago wants to win, regardless of prospects.
Ryan Reaves had a 20 minute segment on the pod today, more than triple his ice time in tonight's game!
Adam Wylde comin in HOT with the FLOW!
Jets season tickets and attendance are tied to what? Money. People have to make choices on what to spend money on. We are stoked for the season. Don’t get it twisted.
