There will be a game where we win the opposite so it’s all good

The top 6 were great, and everyone else was a passenger.

    Nope the season’s over

Would be great to see Domi get going soon.

Leafs bad play caught up with them. They’ve won the first 2 games but didn’t deserve the wins overall. Torontos defense is to dependant on the forwards coming back each and every time. Torontos D has looked awful for 3 games. Yes I know it’s 3 games but still. Same inconsistency as prior. Keefe needs to shake up his D pairings to hopefully even it out. Brodie don’t look the same. McCabe makes bad decisions in close in neutral zone. Klingberg is only decent on a third of the ice. Now add in the lacklustre d performance from many forwards and it’s a recipe to the first 3 games. Matthews isn’t going to keep scoring on nearly 50% of his shots. Nylander isn’t going to maintain his pace either.

This is the most common chart against tanking teams. Always.

It would be nice that a goalie actually plays down to earth against us on a bad team

a lot of good chances Chicago’s goalie stopped like it was nothing. Fair play to Chicago, but Willy was robbed at least twice and it was extremely uncharacteristic of Matty to flub so many passes. Also Tavares whiffing on an almost perfect set up sucked.

I think this is a game we should just write off. I know it’s the Leafs and history really has never been on our side, but we know what they can do even without playing a full 60, if the bounces are going in their favour.

    Where was Mrazek wtf

Playing even with Chicago until the 48 minute mark sounds right to me. Show up for a few minutes and expect to win. Not good enough. We should’ve been man handling those scrubs for 60 minutes.

We just had this kind of loss in beer league tonight. Still hurts. I imagine it’s (only very slightly) more upsetting in the NHL 😉

Is this chart based on shots and GAA per goalie?

I dislike expected goals stats. Just feels like salt in the wound lol

The really telling part about this is the graph is that things were relatively close for for the first 2 periods, despite getting outscored 3-1. We completely pulled away in the third. (2.5-3 xG in the final 20 minutes). It really shows that we didn’t play a complete game whatsoever. These guys show they can play, but only showing up for the 3rd period is getting so tedious to watch.

Honestly, though this is a game, we should have won. And if we can’t win games that we should win. How can we expect win games that we shouldn’t win. We need to be better have a Tighter defense and start clearing the front of our net.

I finished that game thinking « well, I guess if you get the puck luck in 2 of 3 games you will be a top team in the NHL. » The opportunities the leafs had as CHI went into a turtle for the back half of the game were absurd. They had better opportunities in that stretch than the previous 2 games combined.

There are still things to work on. Especially in the bottom 6 but with all the change over my only real concern is Kampf since Engvall left. That guy needs a transporter so badly if they expect him to centre a line with any offensive ability.
