I don’t know if I’d call it an easy goal since they obviously were there to try to block it but he definitely should’ve taken the shot.

Getting a shot through three bodies is tough. Someone blocks it and they’ve got a good chance to get it out of the zone completely.

This was also right after Toffoli collided with the goalie. I partially wonder if they didn’t shoot in part because they suspected the goal wouldn’t count if it had gone in

Not sure how Gandhi would help out in this situation.

Probably just didnt shoot it bc it would have turned into a goalie interference penalty. I’m a little too lazy to look up if it would have been interference on Toffoli, I was watching from the other side of the arena. But I assume it was iffy and maybe a pass to the point would have gotten an open look with everyone trying to block the shot. Pass should have gone to Jack…who is unfortunately always in a perpetually useless position coming up the halfboards

My biggest pet peeve at a hockey game is when fans yell « Shooooooot! » on the power play, especially if those same fans complain about shots going into shin pads or right into the goalie’s chest. It’s all about shot selection on the PP, and it’s working for the Devils as they have the 5th best percentage in the league at 31.3 while leading the league with 5 power play goals.

As for this particular play, I’d love to see the reverse angle to get a better idea of Bratt’s POV. We see the empty net here, but based on the position of the three Panthers defenders, Bratt probably saw a wall of white jerseys blocking the goal.

Gotta see the difference in perspective. From tv view, open net. From his view, 3 bodies. Pretty sure he was cycling and had his back to the net so probably didnt comprehend how open the net was.

I thought the EXACT same thing. If he wings it on goal we score or get a juicy rebound chance.

They missed a lot of opportunities and too much passing but this moment even if it went in it wouldn’t of counted cause incidental contact.
