  1. Knew Karlsonn was going to go back to being garbage he only
had 100 points last year because the sharks had no one

  2. I looked up copius for ya. Didnt know it exactly myself lol

Yielding or containing plenty; affording ample supply: synonym: plentiful.

    "a copious harvest."

    Similar: plentiful

    Large in quantity; abundant.

    "copious rainfall."

Abounding in matter, thoughts, or words; wordy.

I'm a late bloomer to this game. I got into it after the military while in West Mifflin for school. My first live NHL game I noticed big 77. I liked the number and he moved different from the other guys. His legs weren't moving fast yet he was moving swiftly. Big long strides. He ended up scoring an OT goal to beat the Sabres that same night. I've been a big fan. But even so I have seen the drop-off you've mentioned. Its time to put the ole warhorse down

  3. Thank you for bringing up what we all see. Carter needs to sit, bottom pair is terrible and sully is maddening. The 3rd line looks out of sorts. DOC seemed to come to life a bit when he over lapped with sid or geno as center. Get that bottom six fixed, we all see it…we all see it.

  4. If the idea is to win now while sid and the core can still play, then sully needs to be better with his decisions (personell, deployment). If not, the top two lines will burn out by the end of the season (again). Put the best players on the ice and give your team the best chance to win.

  5. I’m not gonna hit the panic button yet but is there anyway that Kyle Dubas can pull another trade miracle and get carter the heck out of Pitt?

  6. Again, The Penguins are completely lazy with the puck. terrible goaltending, and Jeff Carter it’s the perfect recipe for losing on a nationally televised TNT game. but guess what we were able to keep all the televisions on watching it. because we almost came back. how much you wanna bet next game we play like Our team is basically an All-Star team we put up seven or eight goals

  7. Yes it's very early in the season. We will now see what Kyle/Sully do about the glaring "issues" in the line up. I was a fan of Harkins but he's done nothing. The bottom pair….I'll stop there. I would hope some different faces are in the line up Saturday?

  8. Interesting that no one is mentioning the PP and special teams in general. The Pens were 0-3 and Detroit was 2-3. That was the difference in the game, not Carter, not the bottom 6, and not the bottom pairing. In the 1st, the Penguins had a 1-0 lead and were given a PP. Just like against Chicago, the Pens could have extended their lead and put the other team in a big hole early, but instead they failed to convert and the other team instantly fed off the kill and scored a 5 on 5 goal. Not scoring on the PP is more than just not getting the goal, it gives the other team a big boost and usually (at least in the Penguins case dating back to last season) quickly leads to a goal of their own, swinging momentum largely in their favor. I said it as soon as they failed to score "Welp, it's 1-1 now" and sure enough, they proved me right seconds later. This PP is becoming their never ending albatross, and I'll say it now…if they don't finish with one of the better PP's in the league (top 1/3rd) by seasons end, they'll miss the playoffs…again, and everything Dubas did in the offseason will be for not.

  9. And don’t get misled when Pens show signs of brilliance but Old Teams Don’t Win Cups.
Sully probably still a good coach , he served his purpose but he’s gotta gooooooo
    Bottom 6 still Garbo.

  10. As far as the bottom pairing goes, they don't accomplish much of anything defensively, so if the team's best defense is a strong offense like they are obviously built for, then bring up Smith. He at least skates better and has offensive skills superior to P.O.J. Heck, he can probably play a more physical game too. Couldn't possibly be any worse. Shame they don't have a better option at RD. They did but clearly had to skimp to get under the cap.

  11. Bottom pairing D-men were really bad last night. Bottom-six not scoring and special teams were also a problem but the 3rd D-pairing was the biggest issue. When Letang and Karlsson are playing 80% of the game, the least POJ and Ruhwedel can do is not mess up and they did lot of that last night

  12. Ruhwedel screened Jarry on that critical goal. That may have cost us our best chance to win. The Carter breakaway seemed to unfold in slow motion – skating in molasses. Great quote: "…He's just along the boards giving the puck away."

  13. Not really sure how J1Q works, but curious as a penguins fan who never played hockey, how much does allowing 6 goals fall on the shoulders of the goalie?

  14. Jarry's goaltending isn't the worst issue with that mess last night. Carter on that breakaway was a joke…..anybody else would have scored there.

  15. Talk about top heavy, all our production is from the top 2 lines and top 2 pairs. So much for rebuilding the bottom 6. Don't think I have ever seen a team go 4 games and get 0 goals from the bottom 6.

  16. What we need to do is send sully down to Wilkes-Barre for a month so he gets attached to some young guys and brings them back up with him. Like when he took over and brought guentzel, rust and sheary with him. For some reason the pens only win when they fire the coach and the Wilkes-Barre guy comes up

  17. as i wrote b4, they had better get rid of carter in the offseason…. and no second scoring, eller is the only of those bottom six with a point… karlsson in the first d pairing and we get rolling

  18. Hi DK! I love all 3 segments. As you mentioned we have Letang and karlsson playing 80% of the game, which gives less time to other defenders. If Sullivan or whoever is making the call to have Carter on the active lineup, would it make sense to scratch a defender and bring in an extra offensive player? This would give flexibility to lines to sit certain players in certain situations, while still playing the line. I know this is normally done the other way, but could this work? And who would that other player be?

    Thanks for the hard work!
    Dan

  19. PO Joseph, Ruwehdal, Carter have to go. We have to find a way to replace them with more talent. Trade picks, find something for salary adjustments…whatever.

  20. I'd like to know who the Pens have who would be better than Carter on the 4th line? We're kinda stuck w. Carter and I think he has more hops this season so far than he had last. What I took from last nights game is the Pens sure are even more fun to watch w. the new acquisitions, Jarry was average, the team cant deal with physical play as always, and the D is always the majour problem for this team…remains to be seen what Dubus has actually fixed. Also I feel bad for Marcus..he's is gonna be a piñata all season.

  21. Carter being in the lineup has more to do with his salary. I don't think the owners want 3.125mil riding the pine every game.

  22. That third pair can’t be our best options. Even though they get so little minutes they still manage to be out there with most goals against. Try Ludvig or Shea or both , POJ or Ruwedle has to go down or be traded for peanuts, add a 13th forward, press box Carter and see if that shake up makes a difference. And play our other goalie against his former team! Ex pens kill us all the time (see this score sheet for current reference). Time to see the revenge factor in our favor.
