It’s a shame the Rangers decided to plant their AHL team in Hartford cause we totally could have put a new Whalers there if not for them.

We own the rights to the brand, could have been a thing

    > They went to the AHL this past summer and tried to convince the league to expand by one additional team and they said, ‘No, no, we’re not going to go to 33 teams, there’s only 32 NHL teams.’ So that was a no.

*If this is true*, the AHL needs to take measures to prevent teams from going independent. I think “there’s only 32 NHL teams” only holds water if each AHL team has an affiliate.

    Asheville NC would be perfect.

What happened to the discussion of Dundon buying the Checkers I saw on here this summer? It sounded like this problem was a timing issue and not a long term concern for the team.
