A quarter of the year having active (probably) players is lowkey surprising to me
Legitimate_Sand_889
Sure show the Kane instead of the #1 Perrault
Lumpwithknobs
Clearly a Gretzky typo…. 2857 would be impossible

November is the scrub month. Got it.

Are there any active players (excluding Ovechkin) who are going to top their list once their career is over? McDavid seems like the only slam-dunk choice but he’s a January kid and as good as he is, I don’t see him passing Gretzky. Does Kane have 100 points left in him? Does Crosby have a chance to pass Dionne?
evewight
Perreault and Dionne done dirty. Top of the list and no pic!

Someone doesn’t know how to properly use tab stops. (Which makes me wonder what kind of software they use.)

Ron Francis thinking he’s got it, with Gordie standing behind him with a folding chair

Has anyone read Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell? He makes a point about how Canadian players specifically born earlier in the year had an advantage growing up due to January age cutoffs in the leagues they played in (they would be older, bigger/stronger then players born later). Kind of interesting how the top 3 highest points are in Jan + Feb + March

Poor Messier being born in January
JimNillTML
Question is what’s going on in April?
Seems like it’s a bit low compared to the other early months
lifeisarichcarpet
McDavid gonna boost that January number before too much longer.
Red_Jester-94
Messier being born in almost any other month would’ve been top of the list, but instead he got stuck a thousand points behind the GOAT
kermitthefrog57
Do better November
PaulBunyanTrophy
Top 4 all born early in the year. I guess Gladwell was right.
RememberThatDream
Amazing that Coffey and Bourque lead their months as defensemen
theHip
Does this prove that earlier in the year you are born, the better you are at accumulating points?
FlapjackFiddle
It’s crazy that Crosby and Ovi are already at 15th and 16th all-time in points. They should be top 10 all-time next season.

The bigger question is which month has the best overall set of 5 skaters?
Fantastic_Emu_9570
I wish I could’ve seen how dominant Gretzky was with my own eyes

Why is Kane (second in his month) highlighted red? What do the astricks refer to?

I wanna see this but for Goalies. Obviously not for points, maybe top 5 save percentage per birth month (since wins and GAA are both team stats)

For those that don’t understand what’s happening here, is it all comes down to drafting. Since draft classes are done by birth year and the draft occurs in April, players born in January are 18 years and 4 months old, compared to those in December who are 17 years and 5 months old. Because they’re older (and thus closer to maturity) projections are more accurate, they’re more likely to be physically superior to others in their draft year (and thus stay in the show a little bit longer). Furthermore, players born in the first 3 months are WAY more likely to go in the first round.

This just further confirms what we all already know: November is a garbage filler month.
