    Amazing start but brutal last half. Garland isn’t blameless, he’s had a couple mid shifts this period but there is definitely something going on with Kuz and Petey. They don’t seem to have any of the chemistry that had last season and if the last few mins of the period is anything to go by then Kuz is getting demoted(possibly Garland too) which is not good.

    Beauvillier has been extremely bad. I’m still baffled he isn’t the main one being moved for cap relief considering retention doesn’t affect us long term.

    So according to Natural Stat Trick, after crushing the Lightning at even strength in the first period, they got murdered in the second for the second game in a row. This is a real concern at this point.

    Expected goals 1.79 to 0.24 Lightning (88%… yikes)

    Scoring Chances 15-3 Lightning

    High Danger Chances 7-2 Lightning

    In short, who are they to think they’re anything rears its head again – they played well in the first and were down, so they came out and got the lead and then decided they were really good. But this is still fundamentally a Championship team they’re playing. I don’t know how many shots the Flyers had after 2 periods last game but 31 sounds about right? Same here. Not good.

    People are giving Pettersson shit but his line has been the best one on the team defensively. Tampa has generated almost no scoring chances against them (one chance against for Garland, 0 for Kuzmenko and Pettersson). So even if they’re not getting a bunch of good chances they’re not giving anything up.

    The eye test says Miller’s line has been better because they’ve been grinding on the forecheck but that’s only one path to two-way success.
