I’ve read this book about 4-5 times and living in central NJ, I learned that Barry Meisel
Actually lived within 15 miles of me. So I did what a kid in the 90s would do. I found him in the phone book and called him up to tell him I loved the book.

Personal anecdotes aside; this is a must read for any ranger fan. So much great behind the scenes stuff, too many to name but the image of zubov chain smoking in his apartment, terrified of Keenan lives in my head forever. The book does a masterful job of building up from 1991 to 1994 and then expanding into the 95 season. I can’t reccomend it enough.

I stole it from my 7th grade language arts teacher. I still have it and read it last year. It’s a fantastic book and I’m grateful that 13 year old me was a shit head.

Anyway, if you were a middle school language arts teacher in Morris county and your copy got stolen, I’m sorry and I’ll buy you a new copy. I forget the teacher’s name though.

Great book. But the two you gotta read are Nightmare on 33rd Street by Rick Carpiniello and A Season in Hell with the NY Rangers by Larry “Ratso” Sloman. Frank Brown’s Broadway Blues was good too

  4. Wow was just thinking about this book, it was decent read it when l was a kid, there’s a similar one about the cowboys

I grew up with that book on a shelf my entire life. I think my brother finally decided to read it.

Haven’t read that book yet. The only thing I saw from that book was when I think (correct me if I’m wrong), is the gm said he’d do it all over again(those trades) to get the trophy.

Rangers v. Islanders book by Stan Fischler is a good read if you (pre DQ era version) is pretty good.

But the book your showing is definitely a book I need to read at some point.
