What the hell happened to the 2nd line after the first game?
Game was trash and we fell back into what has fucked us in the past, an agressive forecheck causes us to crumble.
Fox’s goal really saved his game score or he would probably have been worse than vesey.
This just needs to buried as a forget it game and move on. Gotta get back to what we did the previous games. crash the net and for fucks sake shoot when you have a chance and stop fucking deferring. This habit is burned into their brains and they need to break the habit
I have always been a big defender of Chytil as he developed, but he has been really poor with the turnovers just inside the opponent’s blue line leading to scoring chances for the other team
I hope it is just because he is pressing due to the slow start.
When literally every player has a negative offensive impact, then maybe it’s a system problem and not a player problem. Laviolette brought his system here. Now he’s gotta make sure it actually fucking works.
Growing pains in a new system is normal. Blown coverage, missed zone entries, players bumping into each other can be forgiven in the first 10 games.
Careless turnovers are not OK. Reaching for pucks and not moving your feet isn’t system based. Realizing you’ve been crap all game and trying to make up for it by dancing through 4 defenders (Fil, Trocheck, Miller) never works.
This mentally weak self pity when they play listlessly, and inability to handle momentum swings has been allowed to foment for years now, and is the culprit of many defeats. The Rangers will never win a cup no matter how talented they are if they can’t welcome or handle adversity. There needs to be resilience.
They changed coaches, hopefully Lavy can stamp that out. Because if he can’t, you have to take a look at the core and ask who has to stay and who has to go.
