I think espn kept talking about bedard because they really don't know hockey. Bedard is a easy talking point and ESPN loves to take the easy way out.

  2. Band-Maid sound check #4 in response to the "Connor Bedard Show"…all respect to him, but to ESPN for the Avs home opener to focus on one player from the other time vs one of the top contenders for the Cup…So, What?

  3. Georgie's chest is high & he's anticipating the puck. He's been quoted saying he's reading the play better this year. Super confident & their best player so far!

  4. Could it be possible for the Locked on Avalanche crew to do a crossover video with DNVR , i would enjoy to two crews discussing Avalanche?

  5. Seeing Connor Bedard look absolutely invisible was insane, I love Bedard and seen alot of his games over the years and I've never seen him so out of his depth. Our defense is just so completely suffocating this year with the goaltending to boot.

  6. I was positively surprised by T. Tatar's performance – his skating speed & agility are matching up with Colorado's style. I truly see him on the 1st line.
Still, I implore all Avs' fans to root for Ryan Johansen – if we are serious about the Stanley Cup, we NEED this guy. What he lacks in speed, we'd like him to make up in grit and hockey IQ. In the playoffs it's gonna be priceless.
I keep my fingers crossed for the guy!
BTW The Avs' team is so stacked this season that… that… (I'd like to say it, but don't wannna jinx it)

  7. 4-0 start is nothing to sneeze at! Georgie between the pipes has been a beast and Defense has been solid in front of him. So looking forward to this team gel and grow! #GoAvsGo!

  8. It was the blackhawks, it’s a long grind of a season, but you gotta love how fresh we look and how everyone is chipping in. Chemistry is only going to get better. Last season felt like a dark cloud was hanging over us (and the fan base). Sun is shining boys, let’s go!!! Oh and for good measure, RED WINGS SUCK!

  9. Great game by the boys. To your point, that was a tough end to a long road trip for the Hawks and they just looked gassed after that first 10 mins. I actually almost went to bed early as I had zero concern the Hawks were going to comeback. As for Bedard, he’s looking about how I expected him to look early in his NHL career which is similar to how Hughes career started. Undersized phenoms take a year or two before they start to blossom and think his trajectory will be similar to that of one Jack Hughes. And yeah, that Alexander Vezniev guy in net is playing phenomenal.

  10. Another sixty minutes and pretty solid!! Remembering a Georgiev interview last year in which he said he just wants to play every night. A quote from him early last season –  “I try to play like a number one guy every single game.”
I'm fairly new to following hockey but the whole team appears to be gelling 🙂
Chris and Kyle – you both rock!! Love your show; looking forward to hearing about your NY trip!

  11. What was that ESPN? Connor Bedard all the time – sick! Felt like watching the game on NBC Chicago. ESPN sucks as much as TNT. Avs dominated the game, but if they play so sloppy in the defense and waste a ton of chances vs CAR, they will lose!

  12. This is why I mute the TV and listen to our Mega-Homer (I love the guy) Conor McGahey during the game. I have to delay the radio audio by 15 seconds (sometimes 60 seconds) but it's worth the trouble. Because Bedard, Bedard, Bedard, Bedard, Bedard. Then they talked about Bedard. And then…

  13. I want to root for Bedard but they make it really hard to not get very, very sick of hearing his name. I have a nice case of schadenfreude knowing he had no shots and was completely shut down. Welcome to the big leagues, kid.
The Avs played the game they needed to against a poor, rebuilding team. It's too bad the Drouin/Wood goal was called back, that was a thing of beauty. It will be interesting to see how Bednar shuffles the lines and hopefully Drouin will understand that this isn't a demotion, its just Bednar seeing who clicks where.
Nate being determined to get his goal with the game well in hand makes me grin. NO MERCY! 🐍

  14. The Avs look angry this year. They’re pissed they got bounced in the first round last year and they’re out for blood.

  15. Best part of that game was all the secondary scoring. Didn't NEED Mackinnon or the other stars. Depth goals got it done. Wood and Drouin almost connected for another and LOC is the PK king. Rack up as much points NOW so that Georgie gets rest down the road.

Girard is making a case for him to stick around despite his cap hit. Bowen Byram is NOT. And one of them needs to go bc they're superfluous skill set now that Toews is locked in. I hate that pairing so much. Both LH, offensive minded and on the smaller side. Both pinch incessantly and don't communicate. That leads to Ryan Johansen back on defense and penalty. STOP DOING THAT Byram! That's not going to be a good pair when facing VGK, DAL, CAR and some other bigger meaner teams.

  16. Some great picks for the sound check. You can never go wrong with a little Sound Garden.
I went with You Aint Seen Nothing Yet – Bachman-Turner Overdrive. I think this did multiple ways. Bedard is great but he Aint seen nothin yet. Also for us as fans. I think we are going to be spoiled this year and we ain’t even seen the start of it yet.

  17. They never wear the 3rd for the 1st game.
Last 2 season openers against Chicago they wore home sweaters…St Louis will be first 3rd game

  18. I'm not gonna lie after the last few years based off of recent history I was expecting a slow start I thought we were gonna start 2-2 lose the season opener beat san Jose, lose to Seattle then come home to beat Chicago nit because we were facing good teams it was starting on the road where every game was a home opener against good teams other then San Jose and my god im glad to be wrong ita been far from a slow start its been a dominant start, yes playing 2 bottom feeders helps that but when your worst game out of 4 is still a 4-1 win tells me this team is on a mission and it feels like 82-0 until it inevitably wont be because that's near impossible but 4-0 is an amazing start to the season

  19. Avs made the right move by taking a chance on Georgiev, by acquiring him from the Rangers and he only makes 3.4 million dollars a year for a goalie of Geo's caliber. It's turning out to be the move of the decade in the NHL.

  20. I love Kyle’s analogy for Drouin – by himself, he’s just salt. But when paired with something delicious, he’s going to enhance the flavor. 🥩

  21. I'm here to start a petition to change all the Locked on NHL channels to Locked on Bedard network. 😂😂😂
I get the hype but yall are right, they were showing him literally just sitting on the bench while the game was going, its like who cares about him that freaking much. 😂😂😂
but back to business as usual, GORGIE!!!!! He's gunning for that Vezina this year! He's been the best player on the whole so far and I'm all about it. Also, I really like Tartar on the top, it clicked so naturally perfectly

  22. That game was a thing of beauty. The Avalanche look way stronger than the team that won the cup. They have a better goalie, more balanced lines, and LOC looks like he might break out.
The scariest part is that Nuke is already looking confident on offense. That usually takes until about game 50.

  23. I was at the game and Val's play looked rough. He looked sluggish a lot and had some really poor puck handling. Is the Cinderella story over for him?

  24. I found your comments about ESPN and Connor Bedard a bit silly. "Alienating a fan base?" Are we that soft? ESPN didn't pay enough attention to the Avs stars? I was only casually watching and noticed references to Cale Makar being the fastest D ever to 250, and Nate having the third most points in recent years. Most viewers are going to understand what Cale and Nate are. We don't know yet what Bedard will be. It's a good reason to watch. Noting that Bedard had 20 shots in his first four games and none in this game is just good follow-up on a storyline. I wasn't bothered by any of it.
