Although I agree, it’s nice for newer viewer. This helped me convert a buddy from football to hockey by kind helping him see who has the puck and our big players. Not always how it’s used but I personally do find it annoying

Yes they are very distracting. They mostly come up on the power play. Why is essential that we know everyone’s names but only on the PP?
It’s one thing when they highlight the players on a power-play, I kinda dig that… But to do it EVERY TIME Connor Bedard hit the ice was ridiculous! I really hate what ESPN has become since Stuart Scott passed away
Yeah the players should just wear their name and number on like the back of their jerseys or something. That would be cool.

Yeah, traffic cones certainly are annoying.
I personally found the bottom banner to be much worse. It’s one thing if they shrink the screen to make room for that, but their banner was actually ON TOP of the bottom 10% of the screen. There were a couple of times we lost the puck behind it.
Cales are the worst
Shit I never needed one of those for Makar during the Kraken game. We always knew when he was on the ice and had the puck.
Seemed to me like the Avs were also tired of ESPN’s “Connor Bedard watch”. He had the second most ice time of any CHI player and if they didn’t have that stupid marker over his head you wouldn’t have known he was playing. Okay, we get it, he will eventually be good…unless he’s not.
I like them during replays but not during the live game.
