October 27th of last year, the Flyers were in sole possession of first in the Atlantic. The next day they were tied with the Devils atop the division, but had a better points percentage. The day after that, they lost to Carolina in OT, giving the two teams an identical record and leading the Atlantic, but with Carolina having the tiebreaker.
By October 31st, they were down to tied for fourth in the division.
