To me it’s absolutely absolutely insane how badly conservatives are flipping out over this on Twitter. I know this is a generalization, but these are the same types of people who call other people snowflakes at the drop of a hat, when in reality they’re the ones getting easily outraged.
I can understand it when people are against corporate virtue signaling, but this isnt virtue signaling, nor is it corporate. This is just a player showing support.

Travis is not a hero , truth be told NHL faced a lot of backlash trying to recover the core audience. All Travis did was make the NHL look bad when they fine him. The problem is they pushed this on players and players took offense last year and the fans and NHL players association took note of it.
The reason why Travis issues are going to make things worse is it brought up attention to an issue that needs to go away so players and teams can do voluntary inclusion. Maybe next year or shortly after. That was the big issue for most people with religious issues. Why NHL stopped it because the issues of freedom of religion could be an issue that NHL doesn’t want to get a legal battle over. Especially since the team and players want a good year so cap can go up.
This has nothing to do with being homophobic this is what the league wants and that is growth and escrow going up from hardcore fans buying stuff not controversy, and legal battles. I’m sure NHL will have lgbtq support and nights in the future, but right now rocking the boats bad in hard economical times for fans is the right move.
