Would it make any sense to put a time limit on a shootout attempt? Like 8 seconds or something.
Get rid of the shootout. Instead, make it normal 3 on 3 for 1st five minutes of OT. If no goal, five minute shift 3-on-3 until someone scores or collapses. No goal? Repeat with fresh 3 for another 5 minutes, until goal or collapse. After 15 minutes of OT with no goal, game is officially a tie.
What about that shootout goal for Vagas tonight, I don't think thats forward motion he cut to a stop…
How would anyone be able to referee speed? Would they have someone standing with a radar gun? If anything, that would take away from the enjoyment of a shootout.

The nhl should change the rules to get rid of the shootout.
The shootout isn't in the spirit of an actual hockey game and is a terrible way to end a game. What kuzy does is within the rules, and really isn't much different than a guy skating hard till the stop of the circle then slowing right down to the same speed kuzy goes. He just goes slower longer.

No, to many saves in shootout/penalty shots, allow more.
People complaining about Kuzy are new fans, Kane used to do that all the time and fans loved it. Marty St. Louis used to break the shootout rules all the time and I never heard a complaint.
The only reason it makes fans mad is because Kuzy scores with that move. The knee jerk "it needs to be banned" feels more against the spirit of the shootout than skating very slowly does to me.
I personally dislike the shootout. 10 min OT then if nobody scores, then no winner point
The slow shots rarely work or are harder to pull off, so there isnt much incentive

I don't see a thing wrong with Kuznetsov's shoot-out play. It's legal. I think it's hilarious that goalies can't seem to figure out how to defend it. Surprised more players don't try it.
if kuznetsov messes up during one of those many, many stick moves that puck is off his stick and he likely misses. the man is just demonstrating his talent, which is the entire point of the shootout anyhow. no reason to ban his moves, unless we're replacing the shootout with more 3 on 3 time.
The Without Me chorus sounds like "Nyah nyah" in tone. If I was an opposing player, I would mentally hear that to fuel myself.

Good news report as always, but you lost me with the talk on the goal songs. My musical tastes fossilized 40 years ago, and I still consider most songs written in the '80s as too new and modern for my tastes.
you hit the nail on the head. they need to just enforce the rule as it currently stands, with no puck movement away from the net. the slow approach… the goalies will figure it out.

I think players messing with the goalie is FULLY in line with what a shootout is about lol Of more concern imo is that yes, sometimes the "forward" thing can get fudged a little…
I think Kuznetsov shootout is the same as QB push by Eagles. If players start doing that successfully around the league then it's a different qustion.

In 2010 I was dating around. Lived in NJ, but would see girls in Eastern Pennsylvania as it's a short drive. I go out to karaoke with this girl who is not a hockey fan. I forget that we are in Allentown, PA. I do Chelsea Dagger. The place boos me mercilessly. Despite that I still have a lot of love and admiration for Flyers fans.
Players should have a time limit of 5 seconds to score in shootouts. It would be too difficult to judge speed, so that wouldn't work.
In my opinion, overtime should be increased to 7 minutes, like the AHL has, to eliminate more shootouts. Two extra minutes is actually 40% more OT time.
I'd like to see all NHL games worth 3 points with a regulation win value of 3, non-regulation win 2 points, non-regulation loss 1 point, and regulation loss at 0 points. That would place a greater emphasis on winning in regulation to gain that extra point. It is idiotic to have some games worth 2 points and others worth 3 in total, as it is now.
played goalie all my life so not an objective viewpoint here lol I think it sucks and a ton of goals are scored with the player moving backwards away from the net
everybody forgets that this shoot out move gets his team points and wins. This is what count. Theres nothing wrong if a players solved the shoot out mystery. I think he's 14 out 15 with this move, an unbelievable outlier
I think rather than eliminate what Kuznetsov is doing in shootout, just eliminate the shootout entirely. It’s fun but it’s such a stupid way to end a game.
