If you were to tell that Vancouver would be 4 and 2 after six games, I honestly would have laughed. But all joking aside, I am very pleased. Only 18 shots against, and the team seems to have more structure overall.

i used to pray for times like these

Nashville played so weird. They low zone collapsed but didn’t pressure the puck side at all. They just sat there and let us shoot at them all game. Weird game.

That said, we won puck battles all night. It seemed like we were winning everything, which is why Nashville with their no pressure low zone just couldn’t get the puck back. Because we were beating them on the outside grind.

Really strong neutral zone presence tonight from the boys too. We caused so many turnovers.

Good night all in all. One brutal giveaway from Soucy I think? And a really senseless late penalty from Myers.

Petey is playing like ass, but still somehow has 10 points. So that’s a good sign.

Garland posting up just inside the Blueline with 2 minutes left in the game annoyed me. What are you doing bud? There’s 2 minutes left and you’re up by a goal. Get that puck deep. What even was that?

  5. jonald14

Petey too nonchalant on the empty netter. Should’ve just whipped it in.

  6. Greenarrowfan

Oiler lose when they had a lead…..they do have goalie issue.

  7. Minutes-and-Seconds

Is Dana Murzyn > than Tyler Myers?

  8. yeetmemommmy

Oilers are 1-4-1 and the Lames are 2-3-1 and about to lose again. You love to see it.

  9. Minutes-and-Seconds

I feel bad for Woodcroft – I think he’s a good dude and a good coach. Otherwise, I feel nothing.

  10. kousuke

It’s crazy that a 3-2 record is good enough for 2nd best in the pacific division 😂

  11. dIbodIb

Highest Forward TOI – JT Miller, 19:34

Lowest Forward TOI – Nils Hoglander, 8:59

Highest Defense TOI – Filip Hronek, 27:33

Lowest Defense TOI – Tyler Myers, 13:44

  12. vostae

TyMy with only 13 minutes and we could feel every second of it

  13. jackfrench9

When Petey gets over that friendly-fire soreness and gets his eye in, he’s going to be one of the most dangerous players in the league. So many points and he’s not even in second-gear yet. Those two empty netters though – damn…

  14. CamaroGirl96

When I saw Myers on the ice at the end there I yelled at the TV lol

What was he doing anyway? Stretching his legs? Thank god he wasn’t actually playing.

  15. bitter-pickles

This was one of those games we have lost the past few years, games that just slip away, but this year we look so much tighter.

  16. Beaullivier is an actual black hole. Get him out of there when Stanley Cup champion Blueger is ready.

  17. scarlet911

Congrats to Mikheyev on getting the first goal!

  18. Bittroffm

I wasn’t ready to care so much so soon.
    LFG.

The best part of the season so far is that we’re winning in sustainable ways. We’re not just getting lucky and riding Demko into the ground. Really hope we can keep the momentum going at home. Coconuts glow!

  20. CuffMcGruff

Guys did we singlehandedly derail the oilers’ season?

  21. Nazy19

Is this the first time the Canucks won without points from Petey and Miller? Just curious

Great game from our bottom six. Suter, Lafferty, Garland, and Beauvillier all played well. Would love to see more from Joshua. Hoggy played great, and I hope Toch keeps him in the lineup over Studnicka.

  22. helixflush

I’m really liking what I’m seeing out of Höggy

  23. vostae

every line out chanced their opponent. good overall team game imo

  24. jackfrench9

How do you explain how crap the oilers have been this season? Did that opening game just completely rock them? Or is there more at play? It’s hard to work out how they became so terrible over the summer.

  25. VanGaalTheOwl

Canucks played the second period entirely downhill and sometimes that’s all you need. So nice to have Mikhayev back.

  26. Jessebruu

Honestly that’s the most Ernestly hard fought and enjoyable game I’ve seen played in a canucks jersey in I can’t remember how long . Not just the win but every ones give give a f meter was high . Forecheck / back check was there . Good defensive reads . Busy sticks . Patience with pucks and not forcing plays . That was lovely in so many way . Tochets coaching accountability and look not further then myeres ice time . And also loved to the fourth line on paper and even more on ice . Truly hope that Sticks . Michayev instantly makes the Peterson / kuz line a threat . Miller honestly making me so happy he’s locked up longer term and Every line was good and only defensive pare that struggled a lot was myers . Loved it . LFG!!!!

  27. UnlikelyQtip

Anyone watching the flames lose too?

  28. -GregTheGreat-

It’s surprising how much having Mihkeyev back let’s all of our lines ‘click’. We have four solid lines that all play to their roles.

  29. Nazy19

Oilers fans really thought Ekholm would solve all their defensive problems lol

  30. rajde1

Atleast they’re off to a good start for once.

  31. ebb_omega

Uhhhh, did the Leafs finally get a real goaltender?

  32. Mister_Me_Seeks

If we do sign Bear I wonder if that means Myers is the odd man out

  33. NotoriousBananaHavoc

    Canucks are 4 – 2…

Calgary is 2-3-1 paying nearly 20 million for pylons

Oilers 1-4-1 Mcdavid injured they cant win with or without him

Both are considered a playoff contender all the while we arent

This is a fucking great start to the season

  34. RooniltheWazlib

Boring wins are much nicer than boring losses.

  35. Mikeywestside

For the first time this season, I didn’t put a $5 bet on the other team to win when we were up two goals. Am I starting to believe?

  36. JunoVC

I knew it would be a win because another truck hit an overpass in the lower mainland today.

  37. grooverocker

Oilers lost, flames lost, Canucks won.

    I’m loving it, Jerry!

  38. ToyStrecher

If anyone wants a night time chuckle go check out Oilers subreddit

  39. Dongerated

    Leave Myers in nashville please

  40. NinCross

The folks roasting Mike from Surrey in the text line on SN650 is fucking hilarious.

  41. ebb_omega

So, on the whole this was a good push from the team. And ultimately I would say this team is showing a lot of real promise here.

Next game will be a big one – first game back after a road trip is always a tough one. But let’s see if that can be one of those ones we can squeak out into a real streak.

So far I like this team.

  42. electricnux

Just watched Demko’s post game media availability and it’s clear guys are tired of this 2 weeks road trip and can’t wait to go home, good for them for closing with 2 wins and not giving up

  43. ebb_omega

Loving Jay Onrait calling out that he did Frozen Frenzy first.
