Those late 2 goals in the 2nd after that horrendous PP pretty much killed us

If we could not have our defense fall off a cliff, that would be great. Honestly both this and the game against New Jersey have me feeling like there is more enough here to get this right, but fuck me could we not shoot ourselves please. Pelech looked horrendous tonight and the other night

played well enough for a point, not completely concerned yet. Clearly this Islanders team is not on the level of the Avalance, Devils, Golden Knights, but they can be competitive against them
Lane Lambert’s defensive structure has been a way bigger problem the past 2 years but everyone was busy crying about offense 🤷♂️
Edit: also worth pointing out how sorely this roster misses Mayfield despite the shit talking he always gets here.

I thought it would be game over from the beginning, but the NYI give me hope. And then take it away so fast
Ban anyone who is here for loses and not wins… clean it up
Honestly, besides the stupid penalties they’ve been taking, I like this team. If they could clean up their act, they’d be unstoppable
Imagine losing a game because you forgot how to play for 20 seconds…
Annoying loss and three in a row where they looked sloppy. But they also look offensively much better overall this year and just scored 4 against (a very good hockey team but not the champs like I said originally because I’m old). If they find the right balance between pushing offensively and falling back defensively, they’ll be just fine.
It’s not the end of the season they are 2-2-1 considering the schedule they had I will take that. Pelech needs to find himself, he’s an integral part for this team to succeed. He might be the worst player these past 5 games.
Onto sens and bjs. Next two games are big
We need mayfield back to bring back some stability to the defense. Once they also stop forgetting how to play defense once a game we might start winning games. Thats the only way to make up for the speed we so very lack

Imma be optimistic and say that the things that are costing us right now (besides PP) seem like relatively easy fixes. It’s discipline, communication, stupid mistakes. We’re at least scoring right now, and with Sorokin we don’t have to be as good defensively as we were with Trotz, just better than this.
On a scale of 1-10, that game was a zero for enjoyability. They played a good second period, fell flat on their faces in the last minute. Aside from that and a couple A+ Sorokin saves, this game had nothing. Bad reffing too (although it went both ways pretty evenly)
And to add insult to injury I had to watch the Colorado broadcast which has got to be the worst in the league.
Tough game, I’m happy we can score! I think last year you would’ve seen Lambert roll out the same stagnant lines or hope the 4th line got a lucky bounce. Nice to see some changes and holmstrom to net a zinger. Keep the goals rolling maybe move a dman for a more offensive minded one and we’ll be miles better than last year

Meh. Can’t say this was like the game against Buffalo, but all the little things added up tonight. Lack of a first line, our defense being spread too thin with Pelech-Pulock split up, and Lee having no line he clicks with. I’d try sending Engvall to the 1st line with Horvat and Barzal and moving Lee to the Nelson-Palmieri line.
i kind of predicted this type of season despite the first 3 games, LOU always talks a big game during every offseason but since he was hired he has done absolutely nothing to improve this team, dont tell me horvat was the big move that was best move in what the last 4 years now
This was, to be honest, better than I expected
It looked for all the world like they might turn a real loss into an OTL, and that was better than I coulda hoped for against a fresh Avalanche with all their best pieces on the ice
I was particularly disappointed in Pelech, which seems to be a recurring problem

Can we get back to Trotz style hockey but retain Lambert levels of pinch-in ?

Reunite Pelech and Pulock to hopefully have Pelech return to form. We miss Mayfield badly. Lane’s coaching is simply not the answer and the new gm when Lou retires this summer (I hope) should be immediately in the market for a new head coach. Also our discipline and special teams are shit

Roller coaster of emotions. Was at UBS tonight, honestly fans seemed more stressed than amped. Probably the most quiet I’ve seen a home game in awhile…
Glad to see the boys scoring and shooting, dumb mistakes cost us but I still have hope for the season.
If you had told me at the beginning of the year that through five games the left side of the defense was going to be a problem, I would completely believe you. Heck, I even suggested as much. If you had told me that it was going to be because two of them weren’t playing at replacement level, I would have assumed that Aho regressed and that Romanov continued to play like he has for the majority of his career. If you had told me that the biggest problem was going to be Pelech suddenly losing himself entirely I would have called you a lunatic.
I don’t like this.
This team is unwatchable and tied up for term. We are in for a disaster stretch.
That Anders Lee goal was a thing of beauty though.
