Okay now that he’s retired, and I’ll never see him again, I’m gonna tell a hilarious story working in a NHL catwalk.
It was last year, Arizona vs Calgary, at the dome. I was up at the catwalk, and the Arizona scratches were coming up. I couldn’t really recognize them, until I saw (legendary) zack kassian. He struck up a conversation with me, and we talked a little bit about the battle of alberta. Contrary to people calling him a meathead, he was a very nice guy. We joked around a little bit, and was very approachable in conversation But what shocked me was, this man, a great nhl fighter and hitter, was fucking frightened by heights. He tried for a solid 5-6 minutes convincing himself to walk on the catwalk, but he couldn’t do it. I remember word for word, him saying
“Fuck it, I’m going back to the locker room” and he wished me a nice day.
I couldn’t believe that zack kassian has a fear of heights like that. It shocked me. In all the time working at the dome, it is probably the weirdest story I have.
TLDR: Met Zack kassian on a catwalk, mofo has the biggest fear of heights on the planet
