#REFS KNOW ISLANDERS 5v5 IS UNBEATABLE

Some of you really need to get a grasp. The comments in the game thread during the second intermission were embarrassing.

Just enjoy the games guys. It’s October, the Islanders won, the games will always be close. It doesn’t have to alternate between « they’re winning the cup » and « burn the entire thing to the ground. »

ISLES GET OFF THE SCHNEID WITH A SOLID WIN OVER THE SENATORS

HORVAT CASHES IN ON A JUICY REBOUND IN FRONT OF THE NET AND THE ISLES TAKE AN EARLY LEAD FROM THE PP

EXCELLENT PASS FROM ZEEKER TO SET UP THE CLUTTER GOAL AND GIVE THE ISLES A 2 GOAL LEAD

I’VE SEEN BEER LEAGUE TEAMS THAT ARE MORE DISCIPLINED THAN THE ISLANDERS

SOROKIN WITH A TON OF HUGE SAVES EARLY IN THE 3RD ON THE PK TO KEEP THE GAME TIED

DOBBY BURIES A CLAPPER FROM THE HIGH SLOT AND THE ISLES TAKE A LEAD MIDWAY THROUGH THE 3RD

THERE ARE NO WEIGHT ROOMS IN OTTAWA

    ONTO THE NEXT ONE 😤

I’ll take the two points, but there wasn’t much to like from that one

OH MAXINE, HOW I’VE MISSED YOU!!!!!!!

  6. JoeBenigno

Holding the puck in the zone and not letting the goalie leave was masterful. They need to play the Lambert system until they’re winning, then the Trotz system with a lead.

That last second leg save was unbelievable. I hope we celebrate his cup victory.

  8. Butch would’ve been crucified if the Sens scored after he said « doesn’t matter » as the Sens rushed into the zone with 5 seconds left

Y’know, that kid in the Barzy jersey saw his opportunity and took it. Good for him.

Wasn’t pretty but I’ll take the 2 points

Playing like dookie ass and we’re over .500

Things are gonna be okay boys

  12. oddly_colored_beef

This was one of the most infuriating wins I’ve ever watched. 2 points are 2 points though, keep up the good 5v5 play and STAY OUT OF THE FUCKING BOX

  13. ArchieInABunker

Sloppy as all hell but I’ll take knowing the Senators are not gonna be the team that takes a wildcard spot from us lmao

  14. Marrerchaz

Glad we gutted it out and won but more than anything I hope that Ottawa D-man is okay. Injuries like that can completely derail a promising career

That second period was fucking atrocious but good to know we were still good enough to get the win. And by we I mostly mean Sorokin but credit to Bo and Dobson too.

  16. I hate watching this team. Its just like bursts of decent hockey followed by the most undisciplined slop taking penalties and allowing short handed chances. I cant even take watching this team play anymore after 34 years. This was a win that it feels like a loss against a not great team because we were basically out played for the second and most of the third.

Last game was a hard fought loss. This game was a barely deserved win

Well, that was 40 minutes of great Islanders hockey sandwiched around whatever the fuck the 2nd period was. They certainly need to stay out of the box a bit more, but I also feel like the absurd number of penalties tonight was also a product of the officiating being absurdly tight for the first 40 minutes. On a normal night I think they definitely take a few less penalties. It still adds up to an unacceptable number, but you know… not 9 damn penalties. Glad they found a way in the end though. Some of you might not want to hear it, but that’s what good hockey teams do. Take care of business in Columbus on Saturday and you’re playing at a division winning pace through 7 games. LGI
