  1. Leafs coach showed a lack of experience in the playoffs. The team had tied up a playoff spot with about ten games left in the regular season yet he didn't rest his best players. To my mind Matthews, Marner, Rielly, Muzzin etc could have used the rest. He then, after game five in the playoffs even though Matthews and Marner had been totally contained by the Habs, continued to play them together. They say stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. In my opinion, if he had split them up he would have forced the Habs to use their checking line on either the Matthews line or the Marner line but would not be able to cover both lines as effectively as they did when both players were on the same line.

  2. Don't think of the lines as "1-2-3"… Maybe more as lines 1, 2a, 2b…

    Bunting-Matthews-Marner
    Kerfoot-Kampf-Nylander
    Ritchie-Tavares-Kase
    Mikheyev-Brooks-Spezza

@me when the seasons falling apart and people realize this needs to be done or when its finally been done and you see how much better this team is for it.

    Thanks.

  3. This team is unreal – it’s going to torch the league this year. People are so wild, they are 5 years into the rebuild – this is right when a team starts clicking. Just too many weak minded fans. The real ones that didn’t rip on the team should be the only ones who get to celebrate when it comes together

  4. and bring back Matt Martin to play with Marner…can play like he is 9 ft tall knowing that Matt will take care of him

  5. I liked both combo's of lines TBH. I also think we may be sleeping on Semyonov a bit. I could definitely see a Seymonov – Kampf – Micheyev 4th line. Would be an absolute nightmare to play against. Not sure how that works out, but it likely means either Kase or Brooks would have to check out. Keefe did that type of carouselling with our bottom 6 all year last year, so I'm sure there is going to be some experimenting going on throughout the year to find the right combo. Love Kerf on that second line. He can really move the needle with them IMO. Great video as always, love the content

  6. I think the x factor is Nick Robertson… If he proves to be ready. I also want to see a pesty 3rd line.

    Bunting Mathews Marner
    Robertson Tavares Nylander
    Ritchie Kerfoot Kase(Simmonds)
    Mikheyev Kampf Spezza (Brookes, Engvall)

Outside forward group . I think Liljegren steals Dermotts spot in the lineup this year

  7. Bunting spent half of his games in the AHL last year as a 26 year old in a bad organization. Maybe he is a late bloomer but I think you need to lower your expectations. Whether its Bunting or Ritchie on the top line they will likely have a career year no thanks to them however. Your money puck lines literally shows you can put any player on the top line and it will be a good line because of the other 2 people on it. These lines are so depressing. By the time our young guys can contribute to help Marner and Matthews those guys might be leaving in free agency. I'd rather just overload the top line with Nylander on it and try to beat a team with one offensive line and 3 checking lines.

  8. Marner doesnt have a place on this team, not that he isnt a great player but where the heck does he fit?

Matthews doesn't need him, he needs another threat on that line, thats why they got shutdown so well in the playoffs.
Tavares is Marner but at center and has the ability to score, that line doesn't really need a setup man tavares does that.
So… you move him to your 3rd line? he's not a great checking line dude and fourth line is too little minutes.

  9. Also with the additions i would also like to see nylander matthews and marner outside of the powerplay at least a few times during the season would be interesting but they should have the support for tavares to be able to do it

  10. Could keefe intermix the top 2 lines in game. Would be v cool to see nylander matthews and marner play together. But also mix JT in there a bit. I like the idea of one heavy hitting line for times its needed (retribution, amp up the game) but also spreading these players through the lines for steady protection. Ilya is going to go off one of these years. He just needs to figure out how to finish off his chances (build his confidence and that will happen). I can see him really clicking with JT.

  11. nylander should play with matthews and marner back with tavares, tavares needs marner. to be honest if i had my way i would seriously think about flipping tavares to left wing and have him playing between the 1st and 2nd line all season. matthews has proven he does not really need marner on his wing and has great chemistry with nylander.

  12. My guess is maybe
    Ritchie Matthews Marner
    Kerfoot Tavares Nylander
    Bunting ( Unnamed 3C ) Mikhayev
    Simmonds Kampf Spezza

    Muzzin Brodie
    Rielly Holl
    Dermott ( Unnamed 6DMan )

    Campbell
    Mrazek

Kase starts on the LTIR. Maybe since they aren't signed yet either Bozak or Staal come aboard and fill that 3C spot and a guy like Engvall gets traded with a possible AHL forward/prospect to get a bottom 6 RHD or Cap space and then invite a guy like Demers to a PTO? Just a thought

  13. I think Ho-Sang makes the team and has the same effect as Galchenyuk (I think they should bring him back as well) last year. a third line with Robertson/Galchenyuk – Kerfoot – Ho-Sang could be a very underrated line and make Mikheyev/Engvall expendable !
