@Kraken de Seattle

Habs fan here, I still think Montreal might protect Jake Allen. The only reason Price was as dominant in the playoffs was because he was rested. That was thanks to Allen shouldering some of the playing time during the season.

Montreal hasn't had a good backup in awhile and Price can't play 70 games a year anymore. Primeau is still a few years off and is best served starting in the AHL.

If Allen is unprotected, he will be the pick. If he is protected, I could see someone like Lehkonen taken. Allen could also be protected with some trade or compensation deal.
We'll see soon enough. Good luck to Seattle.

  2. As a Habs fan, I hope Seattle doesn't sign Joel Armia. He's very underrated, protects the puck well, and did great in the playoffs.

  3. Nope, not getting Matt Dumba from the Wild. They just bought out Suter and Parise’s contracts so that save spot that would have been for Suter will be for Dumba.

  4. As a Canucks fan I would be happy if they took Gadjovich. Guy is too slow for the nhl and gonna be an AHL'er for life. Lind, Highmore or daddy Mac i believe are more realistic options but I think Lind is protected

  5. Considering Goodrow & Coleman are free agents, if you did get Gourde, you could possible have the shut down line from the Lightning, on day 1, which I think I mentioned on one of your previous videos. Having said that, I don't expect the Lightning to leave Gourde unprotected. While they do need to shed cap space, I expect them to leave Johnson and Killorn exposed, before Gourde. Especially with Killorn's injury. Cirelli is another one that may be exposed before Gourde, he was the player that struggled the most in the post season, he was nowhere near as effective as he was last year during the playoffs. All of those guys make about the same amount of money, so it's really about just keeping the best players. I don't think the Lightning will give the Kraken any picks to take Johnson, there's no reason for them to be that picky, with the group of forwards they have. They also don't have the picks this year, since they traded away picks for Savard already and I just don't think they really need to.
Looking at the Kraken roster you projected, why would they take Giordano over Mcdonagh from Tampa? He's 6 years older than Mcdonagh and not playing as well as Mcdonagh is right now. If selected, Mcdonagh would be arguably the best player on the team and the odds on favorite to be the very first captain of the Kraken. The guy was a horse in the playoffs for the Lightning, I hate to see him go, but they are just loaded on the left side at defensemen. Bottom line, they are paying elite money, to whomever is playing on the 3rd line defense, on that left side. Doesn't matter if it's Hedman, Mcdonagh or Sergachev. It just doesn't make a lot of sense, with their salary cap problems. The Right side only has one shut down defenseman and his contract is very cap friendly, which is why Cernak will not be the one exposed.

  6. I wouldn’t take Yanni Gourde of TB and do them any favours with salary cap, would want a high draft pick to take any player from them making a few million or more. Would instead take d-man Foote

  7. I know it's not final roster and with the trades, etc before roster freeze affecting things as well, but this roster seems to have significant lack of goal & points scorers as well as playmaker types. I love physical, tough, good/great D & PK type Forwards, but what good is that if don't really have that much ability to generate points?

Would seem Sea would probably want a bit more of likely better trade value players from expansion draft with amount of players they'll have Vs NHL roster spots, as well as probably have a bit higher initial cap total via possibly taking on some bit bigger salaries if the sweeteners are good enough & everything else fits into plans well enough (depending on length of contracts to salary & value of player, possibly also dep on how much of salary original team will take on from player to help entice Sea into doing what they prefer), that way they can use valuable assets they don't believe/know aren't likely in immediate or next few years out plans to help address/bolster positions & skill sets/talent areas they do need with NHL players in immediate & next few years plans for team, probably along with additional entry draft picks they can use to acquire NHL players and or prospects supplementing those expansion draft players who are part of plans & foundation building & potentially a very select few (maybe 1-2), if any, entry draft prospects who are ready enough to get some NHL ice time this coming season.

Curious about rules/effect for Sea with Free Agency… I know they have exclusive 48 hr window to negotiate & if sign player counts as expansion draft player, but if they negotiate with player who doesn't sign and hits regular FA period as UFA or RFA, can Sea still sign any player they'd previously negotiated with in exclusive window, under same rules/effects as the other 31 teams would or no? Like say D man Doug Hamilton comes close to deal w Sea in 48 hr window but wants to see what other offers he gets in regular FA, but ends up working deal out to sign with Sea in regular FA anyways.

What do u think about potential fit in Sea and likelihood Sea could/would want to sign (if have the cap & maintain cap flexibility they want to modest extent) some better quality to higher end unrestricted free agents if Sea doesn't get them in expansion draft 48 hr FA window and the players make it to regular FA for:

F Landeskog, say 5 years at 7.4-8.6 ish +/- mil range a year to be franchise's 1st star & cornerstone on ice & in locker room, face of franchise basically

C Danault, say 4-5 years at 4.75-5.25 ish +/- mil range a year to be a core part of franchise foundation prob as middle 6 F line guy

And any other specific potential players like D man Dougie Hamilton, etc?

  8. Ron Francis? That Ron Francis from the Lemieux Jagr driven Penguins of 91 and 92. The one that was jealous because he wasn't getting the respect he deserved?

  9. Most of the picks will be diffrent they won't pick Dumba because he is protected, they won't pick Graives because he will be protected, they won't pick Hill because he is protected. It is to early to make the final mock draft wait until the protected lists are out
