    Mitch Marner has to start stepping up – its 10% into the season and he looks like an average player out there. In fact he’s screwing up plays that elite players just don’t screw up. You can’t be the 9th highest paid player and get a free pass to not being a game changer almost every night.

    I usually don’t care this early into the season, but the existing Mitch Marner contract, in my opinion, is what is holding up the Nylander contract. They handed Mitch Marner 10.9M, when the cap was lower, and Nylander is a more dominant player now than Marner was when they gave him that contract. Nylander knows (and we know) they are going to for some inexplicable reason give Mitch a raise to 11-12M, while trying to get Nylander to sign for 9-9.5. As of today, Mitch Marner is not 2M better than Nylander. And the longer it takes to get this contract signed, the more clear it is to everyone in the NHL that Nylander is top 10 forward in the NHL and will get over 11M in free agency. We cannot lose Nylander.

    If Mitch played up to his contract, it would at least give Treliving the ability to say, look he gets 20pts more than you do every year, and he’s outscoring you this year.

    Woll is Head and shoulders at the starter. Sam is Decent, but he just doesn’t have it. Not sure if he’ll ever have it
