After congratulating Céline for her success, the first thing Marty brings up is remembering Céline singing [Une Colombe](https://youtu.be/cdM3bz8OOMg?si=ipNL_L8kACKJRw_s) for the Pope at the Olympic Stadium when she was 14. It was 1984; he would have been 9.
It’s interesting, because he’s clearly a bit nervous to be meeting her and has obviously thought about what he wants to say first.
Although an atheist since my early 20s, I was also there that day; was a bit younger and that nonsense still had some significance for me.
Had never heard of Dion prior to that. She began singing and I was *absolutely* blown away. Remember it like it was yesterday; still pops into my head, from time to time. It obviously stuck with St. Louis, as well.
On a side note, I had brought a date with me; brought a date to see the Pope.
Because, that’s how I rolled.
