I have been focusing on that starting pitcher fact a lot for the past 3 years. If you look at who wins the WS, it's a team that gets hot at the right time (obviously). But how did they get into the playoffs to begin with? They go through 8-10 starting pitchers during the regular season.

They got hot when it counts… and they did not have to win a Division. They got the worst team in the National League playoff seating in the World Series. The Rangers have one WS title since they came into existence. I would not make them a model…. but an example of what you can achieve by making some smart deals and letting the young players develop. I think the Yanks should get off the policy of not promoting a good young player until they are 25 years old..
I think it's worth noting that the reason the Braves of the '90's did not win was primarily due to an ineffective bullpen. Even though Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine were the best top 3 pitchers in the NL.

4:30.. Stacey.. if you want to give young players a chance to show there talent. You may not win every year. There will be lean years. Look at the Astros 10 yrs ago. The Rangers 5 yrs ago. Etc.

Two huge thinks the Yankees can learn from the rangers have the right manager and the right owner by getting rid of Boone and Hal right now
1. Bruce Bochey is a Yankee fan. He wanted to be one. Never got a chance. Learn from that.
2. Had a chance to sign Corey seager who wanted to be a yankee but wasn’t even entertained. Became mvp at the World Series. Learn from that.
3. Had Montgomery but said he needed to be traded cause he wasn’t a playoff pitcher. He became one of the main reasons WHY the rangers went to the World Series including a 3-0 record alone against the Astros. Learn from that
All in all Yankees just need to make bold moves and trust your baseball instincts and not from these nerd analytics.

Honestly, I hate to say it… but this proves Cashman correct. Playoffs are a crapshoot. Both WS teams had a bullpen day… has that EVER happened? They got lucky. Plain and simple.
