@Islanders de New York

1. It was nice to have Mayfield back! He was solid defensively and also got up in the play .

  2. Same old… the big G stars once again for isles as one line does the scoring once again. Keep 20 with 44. And 26 should be scratched from this roster for good along with a couple other players. Since 26 can't score just deploy him for d line duty which is every line and checking duty. Scorers become allergic to scoring under the big L-ouzer. Barzal went from over ppg to shit. once L got here. Good luck getting that big raise ollie. So what is the excuse L for lack of several line scoring? Your roster, the coach deploying more offense which isn't working, or lack of scoring talent?

  3. Back to back shutouts by Varlamov, cements that we have the best goalie tandem. Glad we held our lead this time.

  4. Am I Crazy? I know he isnt top line talent. BUT wouldnt Hudson Fasching be a good compliment to 1st line? Big, fast, heavy 4 check, good in corners and pretty decent scoring ability. Seems like a much better compliment to Bo n Barzy because watching Lee slow them down is killing me. Put Lee with Pageau again n Holmstrom. If Fasching doesnt work out Holmstrom back on 1st line. If he comes back PARISE is perfect for it.

  5. Barzy def the goat of the game. Was one of the worst players on the ice and supposed to be one of the best. Few games in a row now

  6. I know we’re only 10 games into the season but I feel like there is a difference in play from last year to this year. The Islanders seem a little more aggressive and strategic. Only time will tell

  7. Gm . Fasching delivered on my belief he's an asset deserving of ice time consistently. the Isles have to be concerned by turnovers and their inability to deliver 60 min of effort. While Horvat continues to cement his place on this team, Barzal and Lee are not playing well and consideration to moving them back to the 3rd and 4th lines has to be on someone's radar. I am curious what you think the Isles need to do to cut down on the dumb penalties AND is it coaching, the players, or a combo of both that the Isles have a truly terrible power play

  8. Good morning team! Was away for a spell but I'm back and better than ever lol. Needless to say, I'm excited about the start of the season for this Islander team. Gil, thank you for the great episode. Very informative as always. Varly looks pretty good right now. I certainly hope this duo can keep up the good play. Living in Maryland, my daughter isn't very happy, but my grandson and I always enjoy a win against the Caps. Everyone, have an excellent weekend. See you all Monday. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!

  9. As much as it pains me to say Lambert coached a good game. Not just the challenge but the way they came out in the 3rd. Also, benching Wally and Bulduc. Mayfield played well. Holstron and Fashings goal was hilarious. Both of them were on the brink of imploding and managed to score a great goal! Hope Peleck is ok. Not to be negative (I know you're laughing right now Gil) but, I still don't like Barzels game. This giving up the puck has to stop. Maybe he's trying too hard. I know he's got it in him. He's just has find it. Last of all Varly gets the game puck! Total professional. Great show Gil.

  10. I agree that Barzy has better get his game together. Also still say that Gauthier will be much better on the first line… Bench Lee!!!

  11. Good morning Gil , I caught the last period at the draft sport grill. Varlamov was fantastic 🎉I am so happy they won!! 85 😊 sunny hot in mesa Arizona. Scotty playing golf so we could the make the coyote game. Maybe Saturday 🎉today we play Chicago police at 1 pm. Let’s go islanders 😮

  12. Fasching and Holmstrom showed some chemistry, especially on that beautiful goal. KEEP THEM TOGETHER!
    Another goalie win. The Ises are beating the teams with low defense, weak offense and questionable goaltending while losing to the more balanced teams. I totally agree with the move to more offense while we lean on our excellent goaltending and solid D-core, but we're giving up way too many A+ chances. We are lucky the hapless Caps couldn't hit the open net last night, because we gave them a few slam dunk looks at an open net.
    Lane still has a lot of work to do. Barzal is going to be a project all it's own. He's dreaming of the days when Weight let him run wild as a rookie.
    SMH moment of the game – Ref blowing the whistle on a breakaway because Oshi grabbed his wrist and yelled "owwieee". This after watching an injured Pelech crawl to the bench. WTF?
    On Pelechs injury, I hope it was from the defenders stick, which got caught between the 2 when Pelech checked him. Perhaps just a bone bruise. If not, it could be LTIR for our top defender.
