I might get downvoted, but people respond differently and Bertuzzi is well-known to be different. If he laughed but then did something retaliatory then know one would bat an eye.
He reminds me of someone who would sit in the corner of the dressing room laughing at nothing particularly.

on one hand, this is getting way overblown and dragging out for way too long, but, well, toronto media.
on the other hand, they deserve all the dumb questions coming their way. i’d be embarrassed getting asked all these stupid questions about why we didnt stick up for our boy.

Are you an idiot Bertuzzi? You did something to embarrass your teammates. You have the platform to clarify what you meant and you dont want to. That reveals a lot about your character. I guess Bertuzzi hasn’t become acclimated to this market or the media. Explaining would have easily made this go away. Instead he chose to ignore the easy out.
Maybe he knows better than anyone else how he truly felt in that moment and doesn’t feel the need to explain it to a bunch of Redditors who are extracting dozens of different narratives about his character and dedication from a single screen grab of him smiling.
