  1. Carter as a healthy scratch was long overdue. Probably mattered less vs Sharks, but should make a difference for the 4th line moving forward.

  2. I've been waiting for this summary since the end of the San Jose game. Yes, you were stating the obvious but it was healing/therapeutic just to hear a positive summary of this Jekyll/Hyde team. Thanks!

  3. Carter was the previous GM's pet so Sully really couldn't bench him. It was generous to let JC start the season and give him one last (undeserved) chance to prove himself to help the team. Now, let's hope JC sees it's a good time soon to gracefully ride off into the sunset after a very stellar career.

  4. So many of us said Zahorna and Hinostroza needed to be brought up. Now that it has happened and it has had an immediate positive impact (yes, we need a larger sample), I don't know what to think about Sully's judgement. I hope this is one aspect of his coaching that Dubas can (respectfully) override when he needs to.

  5. I’m not surprised the penguins scored so many goals, the sharks don’t care this season and aren’t all in. It was great to watch, but a college hockey team could’ve beat these unenthusiastic players too. The real question is can the Penguins respond back to the Ducks tomorrow after their embarrassing loss the other night.

I don’t take this sharks game to heart regarding a true evaluation / a reliable penguins report card in their actual performance. Lastly, I might be the only Penguins fan who did not want EK65 and I’m still not sold on him for many reasons. The ending of the ducks game to me is just a precursor to his performance where he was at the sharks. And I’m well aware it was a 5v3 and someone should’ve buried many goals before the fun passes between him and Malkin. & the (Norris trophy winner blah blah) a lot of defensive players could’ve been that too on the sharks last year. Honeymoon phase is over and I know EK65 more for that reason of giving up and sloppy play than his stellar season last year. Prove me wrong EK, let’s go pens

  6. Yup. Would be nice to know what precipitated the Carter scratch now, versus last season when they were fighting for their playoff lives and had no cushion to give any player that was underperforming to the degree he was late in the season, and every point was huge. Am I to believe that if Hextall was still GM Carter would be still playing today and this is a Dubas influenced move? I'm pretty comfortable with that theory. Also comfortable thinking Sullivan has to feel the pressure mounting because aside from a still inadequate PP, there aren't many other reasons to explain away a season in which they would be on the outside of the playoff bubble come mid-January. At that point the only excuse left is Sullivan, so here's hoping for his sake they are in a good spot by then.

  7. BTW: Who think Disco Dan would be a good fit for the soon to be available Sharks job? For some reason I just see this happening.

  8. A Pirate third baseman gets the Gold Glove?… The Steelers( playing like they play) in second place in the toughest division in football? Yes, hell must be freezing over!

  9. I believe it was definitely Dubas that made the decision to scratch Carter. Long overdue. Now let's see if the 4th line can keep it going. # LETS GO PENS

  10. This is a sad example of keeping someone too long, and a player not being realistic about his non existent skill…….I get it, Jeff Carter LOVES hockey, but your first obligation as a player in team sports is NOT MAKE YOUR TEAM WORSE—-which Carter does……the best you will get happened his first season with the team—-IT WILL NOT GET BETTER THAN THAT….now, Carter is just taking up a roster spot…..as far as the team, you have an aging (but still productive ) core….you better find out what else you have before that production disappears…..as far as Carter, time to have a serious look in the mirror

  11. Carter was single-handedly responsible for us missing the playoffs last season? Come on, DK. You could also say that if the Pens horrific PP1 had scored a couple more goals, as they should have, then they would have made the playoffs. If Jarry had stopped a couple more shots, we could have made the playoffs. Carter should have been scratched last season, but that’s not the reason they missed the playoffs. And his being scratched now won’t be the reason they make it this season (they won’t be making it imo with or without Carter)

  12. I am no Carter "of today" fan, that being said, carter was NOT the only problem and is not the only problem with this team.
