Most frustrating playoff series I can remember in recent memory. The cheap shot on Rakell, the cheap shot on Crosby, the injury situation in net, blown leads in so many games… and another first round loss to a friggin NY team. Sigh…
Just so sad, unbelievable how we lost this series with so many chances and bad luck, this feels like the steelers loss to the jaguars in 2017, so painful 😣
Hextall & burke bare some responsibility for this failure. Not finding a better backup Replacing DeSmith who clearly Sully didn't have faith in, or he wouldn't have overworked Jarry so much!

I'm not shocked they lost. I'm shocked that they lost getting 3+ goals/game against a more than likely Vezina winner. Defense should be reworked. Top to bottom.

If the Pens dont have a team psychologist, I think that is what they most need. They just dont have killer instinct and have these short lapses in concentration that cost them many many games. They score a goal then they almost immediately give one up..they give up goals in the closing seconds of periods….a lot. Other teams know how to easily take them out of their games by tearing off their helmets, hitting them in their heads, tripping them, etc. They significantly outplayed the Rangers in this series, but these short lapses do them in…They chased igor from his net twice in this series. this is a game where there are lots of flukey goals…you have to dominate to compensate…you just cant have those weak moments..you got to put lesser teams away when you have them down…like a couple other teams know how to do
Feels a bit like last year as I thought we were better then the islanders too.. as we know doesn’t matter.. I think it’s safe to say some kind of major change is needed next year.
As a rangers fan I have to admit that the pens were the better team. My rangers were basically a one punch knockout type of team. Meanwhile the penguins were like a boxer beating the opponent up with punches in bunches. I hated the penguins during the season but now have a lot of respect for them because they played amazing in that series. But got to give the rangers credit for never quitting and digging down deep to pull it off. It was a great series to say the least

My first time following sports since becoming a musician in 2007. I'm from Halifax and followed Crosby closely when he joined the league and the first few seasons. Last year during covid lockdowns in Taiwan I got into it again. I had just moved to Taiwan, stuck in a tiny hotel, complete homesick and cultured shocked. Watching Crosby and the pens gave me a much needed sense of normalcy while in such a foreign land. I watched every single second of every game since the start of this season. It was a fairytale story with a bittersweet ending I loved every moment. Thank you Pens and thank you DK for covering it.
