We were trialing and needed to chase the game.

I’m glad Sheldon pulled his head out of his ass and coached smart this game.

1-0 in the Ryan “bench door opener” Reaves era.

  3. OJsGardener

Should’ve been with 20:00 remaining in the first

I mean he’s a liability out there, plain and simple. I can’t possibly know what he brings on the bench and dressing room, but I find it hard to believe a capable NHL level player wouldn’t be preferred.

Did someone throw a coaching handbook at keefe? Knies to the first line AND benching Reaves? It’s almost like Christmas.

Kampf and Gregor with Reaves tonight: 34%xG

Kampf and Gregor with Jarnkrok tonight: 71%xG

If the goal is to win hockey games Reaves shouldn’t be playing. Send down Lajoie, call up another forward, and give the guy a megaphone so he can chirp from the press box.

  7. When a player can’t be on the ice in a close game or when you are trailing and need to get back into a game he should not be in the lineup. It’s such a waste of a space. Bring up McMann who can kill penalties and add a bit of speed. McMann-Kampf-Gregor is actually an interesting line that won’t score skill goals but might create some rush goals or crash and bang nonsense.

Reaves can fuck off ‘to gets paid four million dollars over three years to be terrible at hockey’ land

Reaves should slot into the Wayne Train role. Doesn’t need to be in every game but if we’re playing a dirty team like the Jets let him do his thing

  9. LowHangingLight

There was a play tonight shortly before he was benched where he got control of the puck just inside the blue line and literally knocked the puck offside and five feet down the ice while trying to stick handle for two seconds. I think that may have been the dagger for Keefe.

Tampa wouldn’t even fight Domi so why play Reaves?

  11. Big_Albatross_3050

He’s brought in as a culture setting guy, keep him as a culture setting guy. He shouldn’t be playing any more than 7-8 minutes whenever he dresses and should really only be deployed during blowouts or if someones taken exception to our guys so he can go and beat the breaks off them.

I like the Grim Reaver, but father time has caught up to him in every aspect except with his fists. He’s basically a healthy Wayne Train. Keefe should be using him solely for his fists at this point and Treliving should be encouraging Reaves to try and get the stars to buy into the fact that nobody should be above the logo.

If 34 and especially 16 buy in like 91, 44, and 88 have, then the Leafs will be a force in the league.

What happened to the guy from the first 2 games of the season? That guy was useful

  13. MoronCapitalM

0-8 in goals so far with him on the ice. May that be his last shift as a Leaf.

Reaves contract itself isn’t a big problem, $200k of dead cap when he’s buried is manageable. The problem is this team seems insistent on dressing him every night and it makes whatever line he is on a complete non-factor and liability. You can’t have a defensive focused 4th line with Kampf at C if you have Reaves on the Wing.

  15. DaltonFitz

How Brad decided he deserved anything beyond league minimum, when we are in as tight of a cap situation as we are is beyond me. You can’t even put him on the ice. It’s not like this is some new discovery that came out of nowhere. Everyone knew this.

  16. mikeydavison

Good. His next shift should come…never

  17. Counterkiller29

Some of you have such a hard on for complaining about Reaves. Relax. Sometimes 4th line goons dont play, especially when we are chasing a game.

  18. Chemical_Cost2476

Unfortunately the new generation players don’t stick up for themselves. Dubas built the team for speed & skill. No grind. Having Reeves sitting on the bench is the only thing that stops the top guys from getting rag-dolled every game !

    3 million dollar bench warmer
    Great signing
