  1. Love the content, Chris! Keep up the good work! I also have a random idea for a potential future video… the jersey designs of the defunct Pro Beach Hockey League! Some horrendous yet amazing jerseys back in the day 🙂

  2. Those Lightning jerseys never looked better than when Manon Rheaume was in goal. " 'ockey for me… iz a passion." Ah, the 90s…

As someone who lives in SW Louisiana, I'm in a hockey deadzone… except for a stretch in the mid-90s to early 2000s. For half a decade, Louisiana was hockey crazy. My hometown team, the Lake Charles Ice Pirates, was as minor league as it could get. But an hour east of us was an absolute phenomenon, the Louisiana (Lafayette) Ice Gators. For the first few years, it was 10,000 fan sellouts. This was crazy because just a few years earlier, I'd lived in Lafayette, and I can attest to the fact that I was one of maybe only five hockey fans. I know this because when I'd go to the card stores or the sports memorabilia stores in town, the managers would always comment about it. So just five years later, and there's 10,000 people showing up every night to the games, my brain couldn't process it. "Where were all you guys before???" I was producing and directing a local sports talk show and we went on a road trip and made a video about it. This is 1996.

Anyway, I know you have a million ideas to get to, but I'd love to see a video some day about when hockey ruled the South, and all the horrible, horrible logos that came with it. There was a name-the-team contest for my local team. "Ice Pirates" won (we have a history of pirates in the area, especially Jean Lafitte). My entries were "Contrabandits" and "Puckaneers."

  3. I'm definitely not a Phil Esposito fan, but I have to agree with him on Bolts (and extend it to Canes, Sens, and whoever else does this). Put it on merch all you want, but not on the actual uniforms, let the NBA have that one.

Also, another great video Chris. I'm already subscribed :).

  4. Phil is so direct and I love it! More of these interview type videos would be amazing!

  5. It would've been cool to ask him about the original silver "Blade Runner" numbers kit too. Top notch Chris… Thanks!

  6. What applications/programs are best for designing logos and jerseys? I’m a newbie when it comes to turning my designs digital

  7. Haven't watched yet, but gotta think he hates the new crappy logo/jersey set especially since they got rid of his victory stripes.

  8. I became a Lightning fan in 2011, when I went to my first ever hockey game. Game 6 of the ECF vs the Bruins, which feels kinda poetic in a way. Espo played for Boston and Espo is the reason hockey is in Tampa. I fell in love with the team that night and hockey is now my second favorite sport behind Football (#GoBucs). Also, Espo is amazing on radio with Mishkin. I have always felt he says what the fans are feeling through his experience, knowledge, and authenticity.

  9. So disappointing some of the best branding ever was changed. So stupid to go blue and white too. That’s the day I hated the team. I’m not a leaf fan but it’s a disgrace and a slap in the face.

  10. May 2022 hoping Phils ok today. His Lightning just defeated Toronto in playoff game 7. God Speed to Phil Esposito a hockey icon I admire greatly.
