Until a team has a good goalie, goaltending is always a major concern. If your goalie is hurt for months it still is a major concern.

leafs overall roster is pretty bad. sure they have the over paid fluff four . who show up once in a while to score 3+ goals. When you give up now 4 a game on average at home, its very hard to win games. It's not all the goalies fault. The leafs defense is ugly, the worst defense in the conference. Until that improves, they are going to the bottom of the division standings

Goaltending is a red herring.
Let's see…One goalie, the presumed starter, is struggling with an .855. The other is a midling goalie prospect who has less than 20gp in the NHL. Pretty obvious question and answer. Also, Moneypuck now has Toronto at 41.4% to make the playoffs and they just got doubled up by a team with a 10.3% chance.
It’s about team defence and the huge disparity between the core 4 and the rest of the roster.

We keep blaming goalies but we never have had a great defensive core or that true shut down d man. The "top" players up front and Rielly asked for too much money and the gm gave them too much money. It's hard to blame a goalie when the defense in front of them is horrible. How many goalies do we need to go through before we blame the players up front taking too much money from the cap? And boy Nylander surely knows its a contract year for him lol
