This would be amazing for the franchise in a few ways but it will never happen so do not get our hopes up.

What one year in Ohio does to a man.

His wife wouldn’t let him

Hot take: but no, I don’t want gaudreau back. Like why would I want to have my ex back. Pass

I wonder if Johnny regrets his decision. Not being salty, just genuinely curious.

Johnny took us places. Deep in the playoffs every year, man. Yes, we definitely need to bring him back. Miss watching him float around the perimeter, throwing 40 foot muffins at the goalies chest.
No I’m good with the way things are. Huby will figure this out.

Ik some fans have mixed emotions bout this and it’s still very unlikely to happen (although maybe not impossible), but it would be great to have him back here where we could go back to cheering for Johnny Hockey once again with players he has had proven chemistry with. Again, unlikely this would actually materialize but who knows..

The only reason Johnny isn’t a Flame right now is his wife.

Johnny got what he wanted. He took a bag to go to a small American market and be anonymous. Hot take, but he doesn’t really care about winning. If he did he’d have gone somewhere else. He can just skate around and be a rich guy and have an easy life with his family. Good for him honestly but I’m glad that mentality isn’t on this team.

Just because it worked on the first go round, doesn’t mean it would work on the second. Nothing is an automatic to be plug-and-play. We all assumed Huberdeau would be an automatic and we can see how that’s going. It was a specific time and group and Johnny blew it up. It’s gone now.

The only thing I miss is his zone entry on the power play.

He walked away from a Stanley Cup contending team that would pay him more than any other team in the league could and the distinct possibility of joining the Lanny/Jarome echelon. To become a local legend is rare, even for and NHL player.
He signed with a team in the Bedard sweepstakes in a city he knew nothing about for millions less and a career trajectory into obscurity.
Whatever his reasons were, he chose this and he isn’t coming back.

Ah we don’t need to make a big trade to invite Jim and Guy back to the ‘dome. Those guys are beauties… Flames should just fly ’em up as guests of honor.
That wouldn’t be passive aggressive at all…😏

Johnny wants to come back here as much as McDavid and Drai want to stay in Edmonton.

Fuck that. A guy who didn’t want to be here vs one who was abruptly traded away from success with no say in it yet still committed to us long term, albeit struggling?
Some fans need to give their head a shake. The effort is there but the support tools (and currently the results) are not. This team could barely make it through the neutral zone (seems to be getting better) and we expect him to make plays out of that?
It’s ok to expect more, but expect more from the whole team and don’t treat our own players like shit. When the issue is largely down to mentality and confidence, how is that behaviour from “supporters” of the team supposed to help?

Tkachuk is the loss here, not JG.
