The cynic in me thinks that starting Samsonov against the red hot Canucks is Keefe fanning the flames of his already burning confidence. Could also be a great opportunity for Sammy to tell the haters to pound salt and have the game of his life. We already know he’s getting shelled thanks to the porous defence corps.

Ok, I’ll be that guy. But we’re going to lose to Canucks. Big time.

The Canucks are hot though. They’ll beat us again.

Woll’s worst game was last night. Overall he’s been much better than Samsonov, but I’m not convinced Woll’s a starter either. He’s got more room for error as a rookie tender than Samsonov does.

This is a very Babcockian « try to bank the two points » strategy, but I don’t know that it’s the wrong approach right now.

This team CANNOT, under any circumstances lose both of these games before going to Sweden. I think of the 4 possible goalie vs. team matchups, Woll vs the Flames is the most favourable. Makes sense to me to do whatever it takes to try and win that game.
If Sammy shits the bed again against the Flames, then a rested Canucks team comes into town on a back to back and beats Woll …. that would be a disaster.

What I’m reading is Woll vs Flames. Then Sammy gets chased outta net again, then Woll vs Canucks.

I think that’s meant to be a confidence booster for Sammy, if he was given the start against Calgary he could see it that he’s not trusted for the tougher games, and worse if he loses against Calgary what does that do to his confidence. We know he’s good enough, just got to get his head back in that space again

About to get blown out Saturday. The pressure of Saturday HNIC + red hot Canucks will get to Sammy.

Yeah, rather the other way around.

The team needs to play better defense.
Either way both goalies need to play against top competition.

So Samsonov is still the starter?
