That’s cause Brad treliving is a fucking moron. I still can’t believe he signed Reaves to a 3 year deal lmao. Chat GPT would be a better GM at this point

I wonder what a line of Robertson-Domi-Lafferty would have looked like?

In the Pacific. He’s racking up points against the Sharks and the Oilers.
He wasn’t that good for us.
JonJonFTW
I don’t like these kinds of comparisons, because Lafferty was not great with us. There is absolutely no guarantee his production in Vancouver would’ve magically showed up if we had kept him. You have no idea how Lafferty would’ve played here by judging his play with a different team, coach, and system. All we know is he didn’t play close to this good with us.

Still thinking about our exes

Lafferty was awful on this team and was worth very little.
Should they have just kept him on this team to play like shit? That wouldn’t benefit the Leafs or Laff.. At least Lafferty is doing well now.
ElephantShell34
Yeah in hindsight that was a pretty big mistake. It really stings that we signed Reaves and had to trade away an actual useful player in order to make him fit.
Whether or not he’d be putting up big numbers here, the fact is that he does have some utility. Some kind of skills that translate to the game of hockey and could help to win games.
Ryan Reaves does not have that.
Jmac24mats13
Different teams, cities, coaches, and teammates are all factors of how a player performs. Just because it’s working now, doesn’t mean it was gonna work the same or better with the Leafs, cause it’s showed it wasn’t in the past

You mean we should have given up willy if he’s being matched by a rookie and a bottom sixer.
10 mil my ass.

Funny thing about statistics in a small sample space. At the time this was published (12 games), Auston was on pace for ~90 goals.

Yeah I knew this would backfire. I wouldn’t have expected this production from him but this was a guy that forechecked well, super fast and he had a little offensive pop. Perfect 4th line guy and now that we’re stuck with that black hole Reaves on the 4th line it just makes it look worse
VerryBonds
By that logic we also gave up Jackie Campbell lol

Look who’s laffing now

I really liked what I saw of Lafferty last year. He’d still be a good fit on the 4th. Brutal move.

Last year: 19gp 2g 4a 6pts
This year: 12gp 3g 3a 6pts
Lol who cares? This is just slightly above what he was doing last year and it’s not likely to be sustainable from the 4th line.
Mr_Wrecksauce
I liked Laff, I was hoping they’d keep him around.
Logical-Bit-746
Was it not to make room so a guy like knies can play full time?
Weekly-Junket8272
Crazy how quick it switches. People were begging for him to be gone before the trade
Devine97
I think it’s easy to forget about variables in situations like this. With the most common being opportunities. Lafferty is getting more opportunity with Vancouver is many different ways than he would have gotten in Toronto.

Laffy was one of my fav picks from last season x( So bummed
