J’ai fait le calcul pour que vous n’ayez pas à le faire ! Voici l’appel annulé pour le bâton haut de Carter Verhaeghe.

This is a screenshot of the overturned call from the Florida Panthers game and the high precision /s math to go with it. Verhaeghe is 6’2″ and uses a 65″ stick for reference – this means that when contact was made (his stick is bending in the ss) the puck was *at a bare minimum* 14″ above his waist. A humans waist height is roughly 53% of your total height, so this would put the total height of the puck at about 4’5″. Yes, he is bending his knees slightly but I also did not include the fact that he’s on skates or the fact that the downward camera angle would show it lower than it was in reality either. 5 inches *above* the post at a minimum and yet this was cLeArLY enough to overturn the call on the ice of no goal. What do you guys think?

I’d say it’s probably below the bar. Without all the math, just look at Lundell right in front of the net. Lundell is 6’1″ and Verhaeghe is 6’2″. Their knees are bent similarly so it’s probably pretty fair to assume their jerseys are at approximately the same height. The puck is around the top of the white stripe on the jersey, which is just below the bar on Lundell. Is it CLEARLY enough to overturn? Eh? Maybe not. Am I angry? Nah.
