Not sure if they ever look at games where the candidates for the hart trophy are injured to see how the team does without them, but if they do, this game might have just won Kucherov the Hart. The difference with and without him is ridiculous. The Lightning’s potent offense disappeared tonight. Not because they don’t have other great players, this team is deeper than it was last year offensively. However, Kucherov is one of the few players that can just dictate the pace. When things aren’t going well, the dude can just slow the play down. They didn’t get that tonight, and were forced into Carolina’s style of game. Also evident the powerplay runs through him. I’ve always said the guy is top 5 in the league and this season is proof.
Excellent game from the Canes. This is the kind of shutdown hockey we can play when we're ready to play from the first second. And Kochetkov with the shutout as well. Let's go Canes!
7:23 I don’t get what this drop pass was supposed to do. It put Perbix in a bad position. All his teammates are on the left side, and he’s forced to give the puck up. Play goes the other way, and the game was over by then. Just unacceptable from Sergachev who doesn’t have a goal and is -12 on the year.
