Aïe….. Ce n’est pas un bon aperçu pour Ruff compte tenu de la façon dont il continue à mettre Smith et à donner à Palat les 6 meilleures minutes certains soirs.
Some #NJDevils Sunday reading on Alexander Holtz, who reacted to his usage rate this season at yesterday’s skate.
Asked Lindy Ruff what Holtz needs to do to get more minutes. His message:
“If you want to play more, don’t get scored against.”https://t.co/RRZr0NzNsO

If rumors of interest in zadorov are true then smith may find himself bumped down or traded.
Gotta imagine there’s other d were asking about and fitzy is looking to make a move there.
all the people who hopped on the “sorry lindy” train are fools
Jay Woodcroft come on down!
Smith is a placeholder for the future, no need to shit on him. The evaluation of Holtz is organizational and not just the coach.
I’l feel like there is something more to the Lindy-Holtz relationship that probably only the two of them know. It just seems like Lindy has not been a fan of him since day one.
They want a young guy to become a more complete player. My god. The horror.
Yeah, but Palat is a playoff « performer » and « veteran » and that means he should be playing more than a kid who is clearly better than him.
I’m a Ruff guy, but if it were up to me after hearing that quote, Ruff is watching from the press box for a game or two and Travis Green is interim coach.
I get coaches who want to teach young players to play a 200 foot game but it loses value when they’re other players playing consistently bad and getting more ice time .also the checkpoint of thanksgiving is next week to see if we playoff bound or not
Palat getting top 6 minutes has more to do with Nico and Jack being out
This kids gonna request a trade
I have zero issue with Ruff challenging young players. Palat has been on for 7 GA in 5v5 play, Holtz 9 in 40 fewer minutes played this season.
These are professional athletes. If they want to make comments there’s a chance that their head coach might call them on it.
I wouldn’t object one bit to an upgrade on Smith. I think Miller would at the very least be a marginal one but Zaborov would be a nice piece to add IMHO. I’d start by switching Bahl and Hughes though, putting Highes with Marino. I think that sets him up a bit more for success.
