I would move Kubalik for this year to get Pinto
In, and Chabot for a long term RD defensive puck mover for a better overall mix.
I would look into trading Chabot, Brannstrom and Forsberg. Brannstrom and Forsberg is $5 million that should be enough resign Pinto (the projected number he wanted was one year $2.5 million) and maybe a veteran minimum player like a Derick Brassard type. Chabot’s $8 million is enough to sign two decent 2nd line quality defenders like a Zadorov or Zub caliber player.
At the very least get rid of Brannstrom and Forsberg It makes zero sense to keep Forsberg and have $7 million tied into goaltending between Forsberg & Korpo. Bring up Sogard to back up Korpo.
Agree Chabot is overrated for what he makes and kubalik should go.
Chabot was the backbone of this team for many years. The Pillar of this rebuilt Respect the Man.. he still have many good years un front of him ! . Ottawa Will keep him !!!
