Man.
Are the Nashville Predators finally going to have their first Superstar forward in franchise history???
Scratching Tomasino for Michael « go for a public skate on the 2-2 goal » McCarron wasn’t acceptable under Hynes and it’s not acceptable under Brunette. Hynes deserves alot criticism, but at no point did they blow 4 consecutive two goal leads. The honey moon phase is over. This team has issues beyond what a coach can fix, but Brunette’s decisions aren’t helping.
Commit to the tank
Sometimes you have that feeling that the other team is gonna score to take the lead. It started for me as soon as the Ducks tied the game.
I put off doing all my errands and work shit to watch this game. When is the pain going to stop?
CHEAP TICKETS *clap clap clap clap clap*
Although, why anyone would want to watch this is beyond me. Glad I stayed home tonight.
Preds gonna pred.
That one was pretty good till the 3rd period. Juuse needs a break and our defense has got to get it together. Still not as agonizing as Hynes hockey but damn these last couple of games have been real frustrating
I’m glad we’ve solidified ourselves as a team that’s supposed to suck, but god damn do I hate losing in this fashion. If our 10 regulation losses were due to us sucking and not blowing leads I’d be more on board, but now I’m just apathetic.
– Juice needs a week off
– Our defense is broken
– Some nice plays out of some of the kids (Parsnips and Evangelista)
– Forsberg is not broken anymore and making up for his early sub 3% shooting
– not the worst game we have played, but these 2-0 starts leading to losses really really blows
This is honestly the best case scenario for me. Score first for the free Penn Station, have a game that is still competitive in the third, lose, move higher in the draft. The worst case scenario would be another season like last year, where we are competitive but still had no playoffs and a bad draft position. If we aren’t going to make the playoffs, I want to be in last, not 16th.
Preds should be a better team than this but our issue was always going to be scoring. We have great goaltending and great D (at least on paper). ROR is basically a good 2C or luxury 3C. Cody Glass and Novak are also good but not great middle six centers. Our best winger if Forsberg and there’s probably a full tier between where Forsberg is and where anyone else is. We if had any decent scoring that game wouldn’t have been close.
Preds are definitely entering a more winnable stretch and have time to practice and regroup. We’re worse than I thought we’d be at this point but I think we’ll claw back into with a good stretch in the future.

There are a lot of issues clearly, but calling a spade a spade, the goaltending is just not up to par right now. Saros is 71 out of 73 in goals saved above expected right now and is gonna be around .890 in save % after that. Not too many teams are going to win games with that type of goaltending.
Hopefully he rebounds and looks like himself at some point this winter, but right now, I’d like to see quite a bit more of Lankinen.
I was playing Lethal Company and had the game on ESPN+ on my phone…
I look down and we have a 1-0 lead
Then we have a 2-0 lead
Then I see the Ducks halved the lead, and think shucks I was hoping Saros would get the shutout to help get his confidence back
Then I see the Ducks tied it and have this sinking feeling we’re about to blow it
Last time I looked, we blew it…
I don’t know if it’s better to watch the game in full and get the creeping frustration or get it in spurts. Starting to regret my decision to come down for a game in December…
Celebrini here we come
Slackin for Macklin.
Bring on the tank it sucks but it’s *exactly* what they need. They’ve desperately needed a top pick for the past 10 years.
Rebuilding in Nashville just means not aggressively and openly tanking the way the Blackhawks did.
Oh well, a lot of good RHD in the top 10 for the draft. Maybe even a franchise C.
Bruno, Barry, I got you boos:
Put Juicy Parsnips back with Fil and ROR.
PLAY TOMASINO, with quality linemates. Glass and Evangelista are literally right there.
Why is Stastney here? We put a forward on IR; call up Egor and send one of Stastney or DG back. Or waive Foudy and keep both defensemen and call up Egor. He’s got the big body, physical game but also a scoring touch and has played really well for the Ads so far. If you want to really swing for the fences, GIMME KEMELL.
Obligatory fire Smith into the sun because it’s tradition.
START LANKY. Juuse is obviously not vibin’ right now, and Lanky is a perfectly capable goalie. Let Juuse work through his shit because these losses are going to keep beating him down.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
Still early in the season. We can turn this around. Or can we?
The first goal they gave up was a shot you hope the goalie stops. It got deflected, making it a way harder save.
The second one, the Preds were attacking hard and had two forwards down by the opponents’ goal line when they lost the puck. A vet d-man skates unimpeded to the most dangerous spot on the ice and ANA got him the puck.
The third one was another transition play where the Preds’ forwards got back but were in bad position to stop another point shot. The Nashville defensive structure broke down for a few seconds but that was all it took.
Then they took a penalty when someone got beat because they knew they needed another goal and it was basically over.
With the style of hockey they want to play, this will never change. You hope to a) mitigate it better when you are in bad shape and b) score on your chances so it doesn’t matter.
The only way to take it away is to play the kind of hockey Hynes coached where you basically generate almost no offensive chances.
I’m not even frustrated now. I was frustrated this summer when they made it clear they were going to play an offensive-leaning team despite not having the roster to do it. This is exactly what that looks like.
The vets on this team are doing what they are paid to do, keep the team in games and make it close. The young guys gotta start putting some pucks in the net for the team to start winning.
This PGT has some of the sanest commentary I have seen in the sub in a long while. I guess that is some comfort. And tbh I don’t mind losing all that much in this time of rebuilding, except to the ducks and stars. But I do mind dumb hockey (which we saw more of under Hynes). Soooo… well yeah.
