   Jack and Nico’s return will not help. Devils have a D issue and subpar goaltending. What’s more, it will be quick for Nico to get injured again once back because he’s a constant target. We’ll be lucky to make the wildcard at this point. Ruff is doing a poor job clearly. What a let down.

   your 2 best forwards are injured and you lose 2 veteran D in the offseason amd replace them with rookies and ahl players.
   what do you expect. the team is not there yet.
   trade holtz or mercer for a good D

   Well, at least you admit we need to have a talk. Simple. This years team (uninspiring, expensive, older, poor in assets, no cap space) is not last years team
   (inspiring, young, rich in assets, prospects & cap space). Why is this so? How did this decline happen? Answer, Tom Fitzgerald. He got carried away thinking
   that we were a "Stanley Cup contender". What we were (last year) was a history making, magical team. We should have just let it alone to see if that team
   was for real or an aberration. NO! He had to BLOW UP the team. My constant complaint is using up 8.8 million dollars in cap space on Timo Meir.
   Clearly, what we needed going into the off season was muscle and an upgrade in goaltending. What we got was Timo Meir who's signing meant we
   could not afford Graves and/or Severson. So, signing this guy, a completely unnecessary move, as offense was the least of of needs,
   it actually created & exacerbate our troubles of today. Signing Meir meant we could not afford our defense, creating our defense we have today.
   It also prevented us from making any upgrade in goal. Thanks Tom, that was really great money spent. And by the way, paying ANY forward more than
   Jack is not only insulting, it's ridiculous. Great team building move!
   Swallow you GD pride and admit Meir was a (HUGE) mistake. If you want to get this guy in Calgary, trade Meir. Trade him anywhere. Get him and
   his cap hit off the team. We will probably have to eat some of his salary because EVERYONE knows by now he is overpaid.
   At this point, I could live without Hamilton as well. Between the two of them, that is almost 18 million dollars we could DEFINITLEY spend/use
   better somewhere else.
   This should say it all: Trey actually suggests using Keith Kinkade. A guy who hasn't played an NHL game in a dogs age. The "crew" at P&P actually
   put in writing the unthinkable of bringing back PK to "help" on defense. A guy who hasn't played hockey for 2 years.
   So Kinkade & Suban, degraded players at best, are actually considered to be options. HOW FAR HAS THIS TEAM FALLEN.
   Could we have done any worse if we just developed last years team further?
   Fire Ruff? Bench Luke?? Trade away whatever we have left in prospects in desperation for whoever becomes available??
   These problems, new and carried over from last year, are all the "work" of Tom Fitzgerald. He took a history making team and in one off season,
   gave you this mess. This is his handiwork & his team. Don't like it? Then say something.
   Oh, and by the way, also refusing to address/add muscle to the team, our best guys are getting hurt and removed from play.
   ANOTHER (dead) "rabbitt pulled out of the hat" as you say Trey, by Fitzgerald.
   Our GM destroyed our team in one off season. We went from being the team thought to have the brightest future to this disaster who people wonder
   if we will even make the playoffs. Honestly and truthfully, after genuine reflection and consideration, I can say without hesitation, FIRE FITZGERALD NOW.

   The defense and goaltending is trash. I knew this was going to happen. I am a Giants and Mets fan and I said at the beginning of the year PLEASE don’t hit the trifecta. And here we are

   time after time on this channel I kept saying while the team was winning this team is nonplayoff team and will not make playoff. That defence sucks, that L Hughes sucks as defender. He is not even that good as offensive player. He should have stayed at AHL.I kept saying the team plays like they put on the skates for the first time, that they play like they see puck for the first time. And they do play like that!!. All who thought otherwise are clowns who dont understand hockey. Yes we were scoring a lot. But Championships are won by defence and grit!!!!! We have the super "grit power" in Jack Nico and Jesper. Three core players with every player less than 180 cm. This team does not have snipers. Man, even if the other teams had a football goal they still would miss them with the shots. Only miracle will help the team make playoffs but I guess you all will keep saying it is just 15 games. Then after 20 you'll say: "relax, it is just 20 games, then 25 games". And after 40 you all will be asking: "What happend, Why are we dead last?"

    what is it all the time you mention with Goaltending? come on.. it is ok.. D Zone is crutial, they need to work on it, I totally agree.
    but look at last game of the Lightning. their GK was superb last few games and just also had a bad one, even though he has top stats. but they got outplayed 5:0 with GREAT D men in their team btw ! I can't take this discussion serious if you check on other teams and team compilations.. Devils are doing fine. it is still a long way to go guys !

    Team has no grit and defensive presence….Look at our history, we are defense/goaltender first team….no one fears our d corp….nobody hits or takes the body our plays with an edge….DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS….This team is flawed and will not win another cup until the defense and goaltender issue is fixed….

    I remember hearing a "conspiracy theory" that if the Devils PP continued at the 40%+ rate the officials would find ways to keep them at 5v5. I think the no instigator call proved that theory

    Reality is that NJ overachieved last year. Letting go of Severson and Graves exposed an OK defense as a poor one. As a long time fan, I was expecting possibly a sophomore jinx year and that MAY be the case.

    Jersey should take it slow however, with the moves they make. This is not a ‘cup or bust’ year.

    Shoulda traded for a goalie when we had the chance. I get the D is struggling as well but the goaltending is brutal
