You need to realize that very few people outside of Edmonton give a shit about McDavid. Him winning a Stanley Cup would do nothing extra-special for the NHL. Not sure why you think McDavid winning a cup would be great for the NHL.
Except the guy is a nobody coach who has at best put in a few months behind an NHL bench. If anyone thinks the Oilers are winning a cup before McDavid leaves, just wake up and accept that the OEG has no fkn idea what they're doing.

Coaching sucked (and might not be getting any better with the change). They deserved what they got. The goalies got little support defensively. Forwards and defenders lack discipline, and play sloppy. They sucked during last years playoffs, barely getting by LA, and being easily handled by Vegas. Their saving grace was their power play, but that will only carry you so far. And nowhere against a determined, disciplined team like Vegas.
And if the coaching never saw the sloppy play and lack of discipline, and didn't make the required changes, then they had to go. Plain and simple.
Woody will be the leafs next coach. He’s got experience coaching superstars in a toxic media environment and his record speaks for itself. Big mistake by Edmonton but going to give Knoblauch a chance to prove himself.

Don’t be so sure of a McD Brown Fogle line. Brown may never play another game. If he plays 1 more game they have to pay him 3.25 mil & it’s counts against next yrs salary cap. Brown is damaged goods. It may be too late to save his career. That’s the 1st major decision new coaches have. Play him again & pay him his signing bonus or cut him lose & save $3+ million for next year.

Coaches are usually fired for not doing their job. Now that we've seen the Oilers hire their 10th head coach in 15 seasons, I have to ask the question, maybe there is something deeply rooted in the organization that is preventing the coaches from doing their job? There have been 4 GMs in that same time frame, 5 after this season.
