  1. As a blues fan, most of us feel the same way! It's terrible and very frustrating as a fan. Definitely need a new GM. Constantly feel like we are "rebuilding" the team. Feels like they have been "rebuilding" the team my entire 22 years of life ! 🤣

  2. In my opinion there are two main factors. They've been a very good team in the regular season for the entirety of their history. For the majority of their history they've not had multiple years with bad teams that would allow them to stockpile top ten draft picks. The second factor is that they've never really had strong ownership. The Solomon's are probably the most financially stable ownership the Blues have had in their history, but they couldn't stop mucking with the hockey ops side of things and ran Bowman out of town.

  3. Lifelong Blues fan yes it makes me crazy all the good teams that fail year after year in playoffs! Add the Hall of Fame Coaches that leave St. Louis to go on to win Multiple Cups coaching another team and yeah I am disappointed every spring, yet almost everytime they make the playoffs I start to buy into the Blues finally winning the Cup and uh well you know!

  4. You are giving the North Stars more credit than they deserve. They changed cities and won only one cup with an asterisk next to it. St louis hasn't won a cup but at least they havent switched cities.

  5. Its irritating seeing that if the blues area a goal or two behind they NEVER EVER make a come back for a win. Allen always has a great season and blows it around January through March when teams are trying their hardest to make a playoff spot. Recently the blues have been trading players and moving in younger players but I will always cheer for the Blues. The Blues are why I got into the sport.

  6. Sometimes, I think the Blues could have an 82-0-0 regular season, have Guldo from Dragonball z as goalie, and STILL not make it to the finals

  7. Is it strange to wonder what could've been had the NHL reorganized itself after the Senators (Original) moved to St. Louis and had the Eagles (Senators new name)play more games against the Blackhawks and Redwings?

  8. BLUES BEST CHANCE IN MY opinon was in 96 when the got gretzky that year. IF kypreos didnt take out fuhr who knows where that team would of gone

  9. I thought it would be interesting to revisit this video almost 3 years later and the Blues are in the Finals. This is going to be a great series versus the Bruins.

  10. Honestly as a long time Blues fan living in STL I have never felt comfortable with a goalie in the playoffs before Binnington. I hope he stays here for years to come!

  11. Stumbled upon this video. I love that you get it. You understand the frustration of what it means to be a Blues fan. Maybe this year will be the year we finally win one. Sorry it has to happen against your favorite team. If you dig deeper, you can find even more bizarre frustrations for Blues fans.

    – Doug Gilmour (my favorite Blue ever, future Hall of Famer and Stanley Cup Winner) had to be traded out of St. Louis because of a legal issue with a babysitter's family trying to blackmail him.

    – Scott Stevens (future Hall of Famer and Stanley Cup Winner) lost in a complete rip off by the league as punishment for the Blues being aggressive in free agent market.

    – Brendan Shanahan (future Hall of Famer and Stanley Cup Winner) had to be traded because he was having an affair with a teammate's wife.

    – Wayne Gretzky (greatest player ever) left St. Louis because he didn't like Mike Keenan.

    – Chris Pronger (future Hall of Famer and Stanley Cup Winner) given away for scraps by owner who was dumping assets before selling team.

    – Doug Weight (future Hall of Famer and Stanley Cup Winner) given away for scraps by owner who was dumping assets before selling team.

    – Keith Tkachuk (future Hall of Famer and Stanley Cup Winner) given away for scraps by owner who was dumping assets before selling team.

The misery of being a Blues fan goes beyond the on-ice failures. That's why this season's run for the Cup is one of the most exhilarating seasons in my lifetime. If they win the Cup on Sunday, it will be arguably the greatest sporting event in St. Louis city history.

  12. I'm glad I saw this tonight. I know the blues history well, what I find interesting is that in the national eye what you said is 100% correct. We don't really have a story in our history. The biggest claim to fame nationally is "We've been here for 50 years and don't have a cup." What I find to be interesting is that in st. louis it isn't like that. We have stuff like "The Monday night Miracle" and our Alumni that are either season ticket holders, working in the organization, or are doing alot in the community. (The Plagers, Huller, Chaser, Federko, etc.) But to be honest what I think the general mindset of a blues fan (before this season) is generally not focused on the cup.
Thats not to say we don't want one, but after being knocked out as much as we have, you go into the play offs to see the exciting hockey. You go to cheer for your team and of course you believe they can do it, but after so much heartbreak it becomes this feeling of "ok getting knocked out first round, yeah its what we do, at least we made playoffs." "second round, hey it was a good year." "Holy smokes we made the WCF! This is a year for the books!" and thats really not sarcasm. We love our boys in blue, we believe in them, but no matter what we're always proud of them for how hard they work, because losing sucks more for them than it does for us. Even if they get knocked out by boston in the next (should be 4 days at this point if it goes 7?) I will be heartbroken of course, but I will still be grateful that I got to see it, I got to see my blues get to that final. I got to see them win games in the final. I got to see the best Blues team that has ever been, and I could not be prouder or happier for them.
As a note to shannon if you ever do come across this text book, I'm sorry it has to be the Bruins, but it does have to be the bruins. If we're gonna do this, we need it to be boston, for 1970, for 2001, for 2004, it has to be boston.

  13. man I remember the old Barn the Checkerdome, I will Always be a true blues fan..I miss the true rivalries with Chicago and Detroit..they need to bring back enforcers….the fights the Blues and Blackhawks had are stuff of legends

  15. Funny coming back to this after everything in the past few years. I never liked Shattenkirk, and said we would never win with him on our team. First year after he was gone, we won. He made to many mistakes trying to be an offensive D-man. LGB
