  1. The Campbell and Nurse contracts are an unsolvable problem for the Oilers. I have no huge issues with Nurse's play. He's chaotic and sometimes makes huge errors but he also comes up with huge plays and brings a lot to the team. The problem is that he's being paid like a Norris trophy contender and he isn't one. Campbell is being paid like a starting goaltender and he isn't one. If both of those players were being paid what they deserve the Oilers would have a pile of cap space to use beefing up the bottom six and the right side of the defense. As it is, they just can't afford the players they need.

  2. There is actually a lot that can be done. Campbell just has to want to do it.

  3. Wow, I wouldn't mind making 150k a week in the minors and having everyone feel sorry for me. Must be nice! Lol.

  4. It’s crazy that the Campbell contract is almost starting to look worse than nurses contract. At least nurse is playing for the oilers not Bakersfield lol

  5. With the kind of money Daryl Katz has ( $ 4.3 billion) listed by Forbes, he should just buy
him out, and then find a "proven Goaltender."

  6. I’m really disappointed because Campbell seems like a super nice guy but damn he’s just not cutting it!!

  7. Holland is so screwed. If Skinner gets injured what are Holland's options? Zero, nada. Holland has no options. The sooner they buy Jack out the sooner Holland can shop for a #1 goalie or an NHL back up as opposed to an endless parade of AHL back ups.

  8. If I were in charge of the Oilers, I would spend $300,000 doing whatevever possible to try to rehabilitate Campbell this season: a dedicated coach, a psychologist, a trainer, whatever helps. If that still doesn't help, then buyout the contract. If it works, then great.

  9. The reason why the goalies have sucked for years is thanks to the goalie coach dustin schwartz. Our goaltending has been dogsh** since he took over He should have been fired years ago

  10. Holland has fkd us continually. We're taking all of Bakersfield best players as well, making them a shit team in the process

  11. Hire Tony Robbins or some other positive thinking coach for Campbell. Wait till he is playing good and then trade him, not now when he sucks. He needs to be brought at some point so he can be traded.

  12. Campbell was supposed to win and become appealing for a trade. Oilers gotta buy him out, raise concession and beer prices to cover the costs.

  13. Campbell is smart. Let in lots of goals. Oilers can't trade him. He's useless. Got to buy him out. Move on. It's Campbells way of retribution for demotion to Bakersfield.

  14. Buy him out & get some cap space. I think the Campbell deal is what actually sunk Holland & Woody. If this is their idea of $5 million a year talent they do not belong in a decision making role in the NHL.

  15. Holland had an entire summer to do something about the goalie situation….and to all of our surprise ….sat on his hands and did nothing! At some point he’s going to have to realize he created this mess and offering teams the rights to Drake Caggula and a signed McDavid jersey for their starting goalie is gonna fly. Make a real trade for once!

  16. Overall, I'm not too worried about Skinner. Yes, he's had a few struggles this year but he's only in year 2 and it's not at all uncommon for young goalies to have some rough patches early on. Go back and look at the first few years of Vasilevskiy, Bobrovsky and even Carey Price and you'll see that it took each of them a while to settle into their grooves. It's a rare goalie who doesn't have his ups and downs in his formative years.

No one can say yet if he'll become one of the greats like those guys but you never know so some patience is required. It's just unfortunate that he's been thrust into a position where he has to be "the guy" because his partner can't be.

  17. I said from the very start that Campbell was a bad deal. Ship Campbell off with Bourgault if possible, yes we lose a prospect but the theme with everyone is to win now. 5 million can go a long way by adding either scoring depth or finding a legit #1 goaltender.

  18. Just play Pickard! He's NEVER been on a good NHL team. In fact he's ALWAYS been on the worst or near worst teams, Colorado, Philadelphia, Arizona and Detroit were all terrible when he played for them. He and Sparks won the cup with the Toronto Marlies. Before you trade everything, give the guy a chance.
