@Canucks de Vancouver

1. But but but….Bure, The Twins, Cloutier, McLean, Linden, Smyl, Naslund…….
New Coach, new players, same story with the organization.
The Canucks have always been, and continue to be, interested in selling season tickets and sell the diehards on buying swag. They are a pretty product. Ownership isn't interested in a cup. Neither is Bettman.

  2. It is hard to see anyone catching Vegas. Edmonton will make a charge at some point and LA is off to a good start and will build on last season's success. But I see the Canucks as having a very good chance at a wildcard.

  3. Suter, Giuseppe, and Lafferty make the Canucks better on the pk as well. I've only seen solid defensive play and forechecking from them.

  4. The Canucks greatest challenge this week will be the Sharks. Not because the Sharks are a good team, but because of the 'nucks historical repeated pattern of not "getting up" for these types of games.
I see the Canucks losing this game because they will simply be outworked by a team that's probably very fired up for this game.
If I'm wrong, fantastic!! but I doubt I am, I've watched this team for 35 years now, and after that amount of time you start to see some patterns that others don't.
Like I said, I hope I'm wrong and this years team proves otherwise; but they have to earn my trust because it's been shatt on over and over for decades now.

  5. Clearly Jimmy doesn’t actually watch Canucks games or do real research.

The biggest factor this season is the JT Miller , Phil DiGiuseppe and Boesser line which is their best line consistently. Add in Hronek and Ian Cole we have much better back end. These are major differences. Petey and Hughes are playing at their peak agreed but it’s the other pieces that improved

  6. As a Canucks fans and afters years of Benning, I am very surprised of having a management who actually knows what they are doing. Not signing Horvat is a brilliant move along with many trades we made.

  7. Also to be recognized for Vancouver playing so well, is the addition of Rick Tocchet as head coach. The team turned around last season once he took over (too little, too late), but, so far, it has carried over to this season. So: props to coach Tocchet.

  8. Canucks just beat Sharks 10-1 Jimmy they are a threat this year no doubt about it watch and see

  9. I mean they looked pretty solid tonight in this 10-1 blowout. Highest scoring team in the league after that one.

  10. And the day after this video 10 to 1 over the Sharks. Scoring depth has been very good. Top 2 in the league

  11. Sounds like you put 4 key words into chat gpt and just read whatever came out (very badly). The video clips were horribly placed too. Maybe try a different hobby

  12. It’s worth noting that their schedule has been pretty light so far so aside from the Oilers (who have been underperforming across the board) none of the teams they’ve beaten are teams I wouldn’t expect last year’s Canucks to beat. That said, they’re beating those teams by huge margins and look better, but we’ll see how they do against better teams.

  13. 7-2-1 right now. that gives them some room for an off game here and there. as long as they stay above .500 hockey they should have a good chance to make the playoffs.

  14. This is why you need to take ANY NHL team seriously, on ANY night. With the leagues Salary Cap structure there is more parity in the league than there ever has been. When a team is on a stretch of wins, their goaltender is hot, and they are getting the majority of the bounces to go their way… Any team can win on any night. Does the Game against the Sharks mean that the Canucks are going to make the playoffs, Nope. Does their early season record mean that they will make the playoffs? Nope.
When a team on a great stretch of games, plays a team having a disastrous start at the beginning of the season, and gets a 4 min power play right off the hop, and plugs two quick ones in, the game result is more about the team that they were facing, than what the Canucks were doing right. The one knocked in out of the air, the wraparound that goes off a skate, were lucky breaks that made the result look worse than it was. Once deflated, the Sharks made it easy for the Canucks to look good. There were stretches in the game when the Sharks had control of the flow of the play, or had the Canucks hemmed in their own zone for extended play. If the worst team can do that to the Canucks, then the better teams certainly will too.
Enjoy the buzz in Vancouver, the exciting hockey that they are playing, and the early season success. But don't expect them to be able to hold this pace for the entire season. And don't expect ownership to make any moves to put them in a position to be a cup contender. The Canucks are a business that sells season tickets. They won't sacrifice a future regular season's ticket sales (or two), to take a run at the cup. They have all but admitted this to the media, and actions (and lack of actions) speak louder than words.

  15. Funny cause the canucks have had so much more success than toronto in recent decades. So much more to cheer for

  16. No, No, No

It's still way too early in the year for this. There is still plenty of time left for the real Canucks to show up. As a lifelong 'Nucks follower, believe me, they will

  17. Might be too early to say, but it feels like they are much more improved from last season. They used to collapse when they had the lead (I think they blew like 7 games in a row where they led by 2+ goals). Would prefer a better d-man to Myers tho.

  18. The big difference so far from from last year is the players who have really elevated their games. Canucks scoring is suddenly very deep and spread out. MIller had a god awful season last year but suddenly looks like the same guy they wanted to hand that big contract to over a year ago. Brock Boeser is healthy, looks confident, and has emerged as a real scoring threat now. Top two lines suddenly look very strong.

The most under rated guy on the team is Kuzmenko. If he played on Peterson’s line all year, I really expect he would easily get 40 goals. More people are going to notice him soon!

Bottom six has also been better, and that means they can be trusted with more minutes when needed.

Defence has also improved thanks to new acquisitions, and coaching has shown some new wrinkles to Canucks breakouts which is helping.
It’s just a lot of positives on the team just now, and with Demko in god mode, this team is for real. If they stay healthy, there will be no easy games against the Canucks this year.

  19. Fillip Hronek might officially be the most underrated Dman in the league at this moment.

He’s to Quinn Hughes is Devon Toews is to Cale Makar.

  20. I wouldnt be suprised if they make a deep playoff run. They play hard. And are relentless on the forecheck. This team reminds me of tampa when they won 2 cups.
