His ability to disrupt the opponent’s puck possession and steal the puck is remarkable in and of itself and even more so when you consider he’s 18 in the NHL.
My biggest and only real concern is what’s best for his development. In theory, there is still time for this team to sign PK and then have Thommer and Quinn come back healthy. Our short sightedness scares me sometimes but there is no question that we have a stud on our hands.
He’s ready skill wise, and half the time looks like the only guy trying. He desperately needs to add more weight but I also don’t think the WHL has anything to offer him skill wise.
The only reason there’s been any question about Benson sticking around is he got muscled off the puck once against Calgary, who promptly scored a goal on the turnover. He absolutely deserves to be on this team.
