even if we sign Kane and he shits the bed, as long as he’s signed short term I don’t see any issue?

Ya know….how about we don’t.

It’s likely he is straight up bad now after that surgery. But it’s a low risk move that you give up no assets to make. That’s fine by me.

Larkin and ‘Cat seem to have really good chemistry. It doesn’t make sense to me to break that up in the hopes that he and Kane can rekindle something from a couple years ago. I don’t know if Kane, recovering from hip surgery and in the sunset of his career can keep up with Larkin and the younger guys. The first line uses speed as a weapon especially in the transition game. Also, who loses a spot if we get Kane?

My only concern is if he’s completely toast after the surgery and he clogs a roster spot that one of our developing players should have. If he has a little left in the tank, I don’t see a problem with a short term deal.

Where does he fit? I guess someone like Fisher gets pushed out?

No player has been a productive NHLer for a full season after the hip resurfacing procedure, correct? Especially with Backstrom walking away this season, he’s probably not getting anything unless it’s from a super desperate GM which Yzerman isn’t.

I’d be happy to take him on – but right now I think it’s more important that the talent we drafted get the shots they’re earning. Berggren and Edvinsson should be on this team – and if the kids grow the way we’re hoping, it’s going to be rough over the next few years with the decision to stunt growth by suppressing guys who are ready to play or having too many rookies on the squad at the same time.
I really feel we should be looking to move a dman and a forward right now, especially if we’re looking to sign a FA.

If nothing else, he brings in a ton of veteran experience, and championship experience at that. He’s not going to be the same player from the Blackhawks heyday, I think we all know that. But he brings in intangibles for a team on the relatively younger side, and he’s not 100% washed. He was approaching a 60 point season just last year.
Like most people, I’m fine with a 1-2 year deal, personally I’d be fine too with maybe even extending into 3 years if he’s able to be sustainably productive.

“I don’t think about you at all.”
I’m not a GM so I don’t have to make actual decisions. But I want him.
Shit or get off the pot
