I remember Luongo would always have very average Octobers. Took him a while to get into form each season.
That 2011 team also lost 4 games in a row twice
Those teams were notorious for slow starts. Biggest difference is defence. Ehrhoff, Edler, Hamhuis, Bieksa, Salo, Ballard, Alberts and Rome. That’s a pseudo#1, about 4 #2s and solid depth. Still need a couple more studs on D to get anywhere close to that level.
That 20 something game stretch in the fall/winter 2010 was insane – teenage me was fully mainlining the hopium at that point
I’m going to start saving these posts in the event that we burn down the fucking city for the third time come play offs. Then I’ll have a nice timeline of the buildup to calamity.
It’s a different league now but man, this current iteration of the Canucks is 1-ply soft compared to the 2011 team
I miss Bieksa
That team had the depth to deal with injuries. Yet to be seen if this one can.
2010-2011 was that core’s best opportunity to win it. They were still contenders for a few years afterwards but that was the year.
They were never quite as good before/after that year.
2010-2011 Canucks MURDER the 2023-2024 Canucks in a best of 7. They were 1st in goals for AND goals against that season. And they could play against anyone.
It’s not so much playing better, and more that we’re having a better start and got better opportunities.
People forget that in 2010/11, the Western conference was an absolute fucking bloodbath. People think Vegas is a tough opponent, but California teams in that era was a completely different beast.

I remember watching that season clearly.
I remember how that team made each game seem so easy and effortless.
We’ll see…. 2010/2011 was the DREAM TEAM. Every line could score & got goals. Best in penalty killing & killer in powerplays. Amazing starter goalie & backup goalie. Awesome bulldozer/brick wall enforcement from Torres.
President Trophy winners… ended season with way more points then the team that came 2nd in league.
I’ll never forget that season & the dream team players♡
