i can’t seem to find the nhl’s reason for this anywhere. i’m sure it’s not very good tho

  2. amateurexpertboxing

Wear it anyway. Start the rebellion.

  3. shawmahawk

It’s kinda wild how tone deaf the league is on the Wild getting wild about wild bans on really beautiful work.

  4. Commercial-Set3527

There is a team called the Blackhawks!!! Wtf how are they allowed to play with those jerseys?!

  5. lostinrabbithole12

When asked for comment, Commissioner Gary Bettman said, « WHY DO THESE PLAYERS HAVE TO HAVE LIVES! WHY CAN’T THEY JUST PLAY HOCKEY AND STUFF! »

  6. HotHits630

Is it because the NHL don’t want to upset indigenous Americans? Because the Blackhawks are still a team…with obvious special treatment.

  7. JWHY1975

Sooooo last year, no gay pride. Now this. Next year?

  8. palmerd2

I wonder if he would be allowed to wear it if he didn’t specify it was for First Nations night?

  9. thetruthiseeit

The NHL doesn’t allow specialty masks on theme nights. Why should Fleury get to break the rules? Is he super special or something?

  10. According-Surround

If I was Fleury I’d just say fuck it and wear it as my everyday mask from here out

  11. s0ciety_a5under

MAF can do whatever he wants. The fans will support him, because we know he’s only going to want to do positive things. Wear that mask and let all the Native Americans see it and feel some pride. The man just wants to honor his wife and her heritage. Fuck the NHL for this terrible decision. It’s a fucking mask, and it looked badass!

  12. TalithePally

Imagine banning this helmet but not the Blackhawks logo

  13. DontToewsM3Bro

Another WTF decision by the brain trust of the NHL

  14. NorthboundUrsine

    Hockey is for everyone.

    Derp.

As long as we don’t acknowledge them.

I’d like the opportunity of this thread to mention the stately and boring fact that hockey was invented by the Mi’kmaq tribe of Eastern Canada. It was played on frozen pond with bone skates and wood pucks between themselves and eventually European settlers, primarily French traders. It eventually matured into the game of hockey we know by the French with the inclusion of metal skates and indoor rinks. The first hockey sticks were hand made by the Mi’kmaq tribes and in fact, were called MICMAC sticks. Which some argue is the actual etymology of the word hockey, a French interpretation of the word Micmac.

I repost this to acknowledge the irony in denying native heritage in a game created by natives named after natives.

  16. ReTep481

If I were him, I would have worn it anyway. Who gives a fuck what the NHL thinks?

  17. Winger61

The problem was the teams were forcing all the players to wear pride day, week, month year and some of the players didn’t want to. As usual if don’t support all thing WOKE than you can’t support anything and MSNBC will call you names.

  18. idislikeian

The Staal brothers claim that they have never worn a Native American heritage mask.

  19. MTCarcus

Sad to say, but here it is again… best sport, worst managed league!

  20. OG_MajinVegeta

That’s bs and I’m Native and huge NHL fan but that makes a Lil ticked

  21. sometimesifeellikemu

I’m from the future. He wore it anyway.

  22. vinegarstrokes420

The official Wild social media accounts even posted a nice video of him revealing the mask with the designer. Easy win to let him wear it and cover all fines to fight the league over their petty BS.
